Nominet promotion offering free 1 yr .uk reg

I have just been trying to do this via my Nominet tag.

I am testing it out with one domain first, but when I go to create the domain name the period is defaulted as 2 years. Do you know how I change this to 1 or am I doing something wrong?

On Web Domain Manager > Create A Domain > There is a drop down on: REGISTER DOMAIN FOR which is defaulted to 2 years > Change that to 1 year

It’s also easier to select the contact off the .co.uk with the right of registration

I've got about 40 I need to do... can I do it via the bulk creation option in Create A Domain or do I risk screwing it up? They're all on the same contact.

If you have one contact and select that contact when you create the names it should be fine

If you have domains with different contacts (even slightly) it won’t do it in bulk

Thanks for the help, but I really do not see it at the start or through each step on the create a domain pages. It just comes up at the end with a summary showing the domain will be registered for 2 years. Does it make a difference that although I have a TAG I am not a member?

Yes because non-members can only buy names for 2 years (£80) at a time:

So i just did this and registered 100 names or so but left in the 2 years in web domain manager > create a domain. Do i need to delete them all to take advantage of the one year offer? i guess i will get billed now!?

You will get the first year free and the second year will be charged.
It won't come off till your June invoice is generated.

If on your own TAG they say you can cancel before billing, but there is an untold limit to how many you can cancel, but if you do cancel it will release the RoR and they will become available immediately.
Maybe best to speak to them on Monday and ask if they can somehow reduce the registration to 1 year only on them all.

If you do delete the domains, they'll lose their RoR, therefore you could create them again for 1 year but you wouldn't be eligible for the promotion as it's a RoR you're exercising to get the 1st year free, not a free to register .uk domain.
