I was just looking at some stats for a few of my undeveloped domains and spotted some surpisingly high stats for newsunglasses.co.uk:

PR: 5

Backlinks: backlinks.in is showing 22,350 and yahoo site explorer is showing 46,360

What value would the PR and backlinks add to this domain?

You should put a site on it (even just a few pages) to see where it pops up for Sunglasses related terms. With that many links (assuming they are relevant, haven't checked) and PR5 presumably you would rank somewhere decent.

redirects me to amazon might be were the PR coming from
I have got a few domains that forward straight to amazon.

I believe the PR/backlinks are from a previous site.

Not sure on how much value it adds, as Peter says will depend on how it ranks. The first dozen links I checked were all site-wide footer links with the anchor text 'sunglasses'.

Linking route domains: 121
Total links: 22,350

Many of the backlinks are using a script which looks to be Affilistore, so would be interesting to know if it ranks now or has perhaps been previously penalised for this?

There is some history showing on archive.org - would you advise re-building the links from there or just sticking up a minisite?

A mini-site would do. But you'd need to make sure it had some decent content (and a good few pages).

To be honest I think that's the only way you'd be able to justify the PR and backlinks as being worth "extra". With redirects it's hard to tell exactly where the PR is from or how it's passed.

Sorry Ben the PR5 is fake

It is picking up the pagerank from the Amazon page and mirroring that

This is how people create fake PR on websites to sell links from, and the majority get away with it, as not many know how to check the real PR of a website / domain

That said, I quite like the name itself anyway :)

Ok mate thanks for that. I'm pretty sure it had a PR of 2 or 4 when I bought it. So would forwarding it to amazon increase the page rank automatically?

If i change name servers to something else (parking/blank hosting page) how quickly would it take to change back to true page rank?

it will probably take a bit of time to get back to the original PR, but within 4 weeks i'd say. The search terms for new sunglasses are not very high at all.
