Hmm , do you run any cookie blockers or script blockers ? See attached what you should see

No. Just adblocker.

I paused adblocker, just to make sure it wasn't that, and get the same.

I always use Chrome, so switched over to the windows browser to try, and get the same.

Running Win 10.

I know it should be like what you posted, as get that on other forums, but all I get on my system is what I posted.

Weird.

Following up on that , are you using a windows Touch screen or anything similar ? The site couldnt be thinking your using a touch device and so tooltips wouldnt work.

If you are using chrome and a touch screen you can go to your browser and in the address bar type : chrome://flags

then find Enable Touch Events , enable it and then close the browser/restart it and see it works.

I am. Never think of it as a touch screen, as never use it as one, as its to big.

Enable Touch Events is already set to enabled. Will have a play around later and see what happens as just off out.

Its strange as other XF forums it works on, when using chrome, just not here. Maybe need to run CC and see if that clears it.

Something peculiar at your end...Windows 10 and Chrome here and it works fine.

Hmm, let me know if CCleaner resolves it, it could very well be a cache issue. We run very little additional scripts which have the possibility to conflict to the default xenforo style so its highly unlikely it will be specific to this site...........but like you say if other XF forums are working then touch events shouldnt be a problem, it has to be localised to cache/cookies I would say.

Keep me informed.

Just tried it in IE as well, and get the same 'Go to first Unread message' box.

So thats Chrome, Edge and IE I get it in. Could very be an issue on the machine, but across all 3 browsers?? Will run CC and see :)

Wife shouting at me now lol...... Have a good Easter

I'm getting the same as SpiderSpider.
Using Chrome - Windows 7 - with touch screen. (so as you said, may be a touch screen issue??).
Also running adblocker too.

I tried these settings on mine, but didn't work.
It's not a problem for me, but just thought I'd share in case it helps in any way.

I like it, however think it would look better narrower like namepros but that may just be personal preference :)

Goto your preferences and change the style to Acorn Fixed width :)

although its probably only noticeable for users with large resolutions

Been doing some testing :)

Can't get anything on the touchscreen system, bar what I have said before.

Win 7 laptop, works fine.

Ubuntu server, works fine.

Take it as being just this system, but weird that it works on other XF forums.

Hey ho, diddly do. Not worth wasting any time, but good to know, and confirmed by @MikeJDS that its probably a touch screen issue.

@spiderspider, Can you confirm that it doesnt happen on other Xenforo boards 100% ?

I'm currently tracking a script conflict for another problem, im wondering they are connected so if you could confirm you are able to use other xenforo sites with no problems on that device I will dig a bit deeper.

No.

2 I'm on work perfect. Others don't. If I say 'that other forum for .domains' I get nothing on that one at all. And another one I just checked, gives the same as I get here. I would start threads on the ones where it works, to find out if they know why, but its trade related and they are about as technical as a tub of PVA glue. The answer would be 'I'll ask my web admin' and the Chinese whisper will change to me using a mobile of something stupid. You know the type.

Everything else is working as expected, and as it works elsewhere.

Personally, I'm not that bothered, but thought I would mention it. I run the server through this system, so if I find I need this feature, can just log into the server, and access the forum that way.

Ive just fixed a conflict we had with something totally unrelated. However if you do get the same issue on other sites I would say its more likely to be an issue with your device more than anything and the few that you don't get an issue on is the device perhaps reading it differently.

Ive been testing for the past couple of hours and reconfiguring how our scripts work, we are pretty close to being default xenforo style now in terms of scripts and functionality. One thing we could try if you wouldnt mind, if you could go here : http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/account/preferences

I have enabled the default xenforo theme for normal users to test, would you mind selecting that theme and letting me know if the same problem still exists . I know you may not see it as a big deal but i would prefer to have all bugs resolved if there is a bug :)

Just gave that a go, and the same as before. Also ran a CC, restarted and still get it.

I'm thinking it may be a XF bug (rather than an Acorn one) and as this is running the latest version, the forums where it works for me may be an older version.

If you look here:
https://xenforo.com/community/threads/touch-device-detection.111808/
One of the developers says:
Longer term we would need to look at better methods of detecting touch/hybrid devices, and/or implementing touch support for operations which can't currently be used at all on touch devices.

These are all quite longer term, though, so you may have to bear with us.

So that'll be why then :)

Yeah I read that a few moments ago too :). Dam technology bring in hybrid devices ;)

At least we know its a script/device conflict as such rather than theme/addon conflict because if it was the later, we'd obviously have more control over it.

You know how a lot of us were commenting recently about the new Nominet control panel, and how it was hard to use with them using pale pastel colours, that's how the forum looks to me.

Pale fonts like the blue used for Recent Threads and Recent Posts, along with the small font and pale blue colour showing the latest post of each sub forum, very hard to see.

The other one is the text is so small in quoted posts, why the need for text that small?

Ive increased the quote font size another notch as I agree they were too small , however I don't think quotes should be the exactly same size as the post body ( currently now one notch below instead of two ) as it reduces clarity between the two.

In regards to the blue pastel links, I've looked at site on various monitors, resolutions and devices and cant really see why they would be hard to see, obviously that's just my opinion....much like the above is yours. However I see no need to change such things currently unless there is an overwhelming response from most of the community saying the same, although id love to be able to please everyone........its simply not possible so if more speak out it can be considered.

@Adam H, thanks, the only reason I mention it is due to the pale colour of the blue on a white background. It was the same as with some of the issues in the Nominet control panel colours, which they then changed after feedback.

I just checked the forum on my phone for the first time, and thanks for including the web version, all looks fine in web and mobile versions.
