Rolling your eyes may make you think you are a cut above, but your posts suggest otherwise. I have read them so if that if your only justification for using it, there's no need to in future posts.

Your comments imply that what you do is good enough for you and therefore should be good enough for anyone. The law may beg to differ.

The key issue here is the sale of data as part of a forum sale. Not you, your own privacy needs, or your poor eyes.

I was referring to not reading my the terms of service not my posts on a forum which has no relation to my own practices.

We'll leave it at that as you're obviously getting your knickers in a twist. Ive either mis-communicated what ive said somewhere along the line or you've totally mis-understood where i was coming from.

Either way, Good luck Steve....your going to need it lol.

i believe for one this forum should remain laser focused on .co.uk / .uk only, to deviate would end up diminishing what it set out to be. Although times have changed in the domain world *.uk is still very strong.

+1

I've got to be honest with you I think its all a bit disappointing really - the last time I felt like this was when I was dumped by my girlfriend :).

Alan put in a lot of hard work running this forum and I really appreciate it, nevertheless this forum would be nothing without quite a few notable members (and characters) who've posted considerable content over the years - everyone from Norville to Rob to Edwin to Monkey etc, what am I saying..? ..that maybe some of us wanted a wave goodbye with a white and red polka dot hanky I guess.. ;)

Without wishing to sound morose, now this has happened I get that: we're all about to leave school after our gcse's and its that end of era feeling: 'its been a good ride, I've made some friends but where are things going next'. Hopefully Steve can keep it altogether, a tricky task.

There is nothing in the desert and no man needs nothing..

I'm surprised you gained so much passion for the forum since joining in April

I'd just like to say that everyone can be happy and relaxed and go about using this forum as it was intended. Let me lay out a few facts to stop the speculation, assumptions and so on.

1. Alan had not planned to sell the forum. I was looking for an investment and this pressed my buttons. I enquired previously but this time my timing was good because of 2.

2. Alan is geographically very distant with work and has limited internet access. He is also travelling around the world on business. He is happy that someone can take the forum onwards and upwards.

3. Alan does not have another login here and probably won't create one. If you really want to contact him he advises me that some of you may have his skype or facebook details. He is reading some of the posts and he will be very warmed by the good wishes some have sent him.

4. Contact me directly if you have issues, don't drag down with negative and misjudged speculation what should be a positive and upbeat thread. I won't be tolerating it. I will answer direct contact via PM :).

5. Invincible has wasted a lot of time and effort moaning about privacy and DPA. If he had asked me I could have ended that in a second and will do so now. AD is not registered with the information commissioner's office and does not need to be. AD is exempt from the Data protection Act based on its rules and the assement that has been conducted. Reference: https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-data-protection/exemptions/

On a personal note, I have no other databases and no motives to do anything with anyones username :). So relax, enjoy the forum.

6. This ends the public discussion on DPA etc, I will delete posts and users if need be. My door is open if you have issues. If you are worried about your username and email address I can delete your account for you, but you do not need to be.

That's all folks!

Thanks for all the positive welcomes and wishes of good luck.

Steve

Reminds me of the many debates on Facebook about privacy :) If you don't pay or go through hoops to sign up, then assume no privacy and post accordingly. Even if you do join a pay site or jump through hoops to sign up, the site can still be hacked or details leaked by mistake or simply just read by another who you have no control over.

Welcome aboard Steve, let's hope the fun and games you get from us lot is worth the effort, we're not that bad really :)

PLOT TWIST

'Steve' is accelerator who purchased the forum from Alan last weekend so that he can continue posting what he likes, when he likes

I have said to Steve I hope that Acorn can be steered in the direction of people being encouraging, helpful, pleasant, constructive and professional.

Anyone taking the time to reply in a constructive and helpful manner should be recognised and perhaps even rewarded. That is how to build a successful forum.

I have learnt in general that always best to be encouraging and enthusiastic, that is what I usually am, and I shall redouble my efforts. I have learnt that this goes for life too, try and be encouraging and enthusiastic and you will boost your success and make more money.

I would welcome this as a new forum strategy and dearly hope that others will join me in adopting this attitude.

If anyone wants my help on anything, however small, free feel to PM me and I will do my best to answer.
