New Nominet website

Back in August, we flagged that our new corporate website was coming and we’re pleased to announce that www.nominet.uk will be going live on Monday 12th October. We have also updated the Nominet brand and that will be launched on the same day.

As Nominet enters its 20th year, it was important for us to have a brand and online presence that will take us forward and reflect the breadth of our business. The new corporate website has been designed to make it easier for users to find information on domains, products and services. To make things simpler for registrars, we have moved all relevant information over to Registrar Resources so that this now sits in one place. Not all of our previous content is available on the new site however archived content will still be available on request, please contact our customer services team for this.

Our new logos will be available on Online Services shortly and our customer services team will also be able to send them out to Members and Accredited Channel Partners along with the T&Cs from Monday.

Nominet staff emails will change to [email protected] and staff will continue to receive any emails sent to their old addresses. Please note that for domain enquiries, we will be using [email protected] but outbound emails on this address will continue to come from [email protected] until we change these over to .uk in the next few months. All other generic contact email addresses will remain on .org.uk.

There will be no impact on registrar systems as a result of this change and we will not be changing the domain suffix for any of our other sites at this time including all sub-domains such as secure.nominet.org.uk, registrars.nominet.org.uk and so on.

I think its pretty good for a wp site. Using wp for a site like this has many practical advantages. Its definitely not 100% perfect, but I'd think there would be many sme's that would be happy with a site as polished as this.

SMEs sure, but we're talking about an organisation with a turnover well into 8 figures here. Plain and simple, the new website is pretty awful.

I'm more concerned about the Nominet logo font and colour change, previous was better imho. Looking at it closer it is a bit sad that links don't seem to even work properly on this page http://nominet.uk/domains/manage-your-domain/

The site seems 100% orientated to users discovering Nomient for the first time rather than serving current users/registrars etc.

Where be David when you need him, to give em a good bollocking.
