Go to settings and add your location:

Cheers admin, I was just thinking more for the average user, someone who isn't all up on settings to just go and type in the search box.

I think they are losing a lot of the market when people like my dad would just go and try it once or twice, they probably wouldn't even know they are searching worldwide. They'd see the results and think not for them.

I just think they are missing a trick in not defaulting it to UK.

Just click on the ads and close. Maybe people will think twice before paying google's extortionate fee. Personally I wouldn't want to 'top' of google rankings if it cost me money and people weren't going to find what they need on my site.
