Have you checked with your host that the server actually has mod_rewrite support enabled?

no tried to ring them before but couldnt get thru, i`m with 1 and 1...

Try deleting

php_value session.use_only_cookies 1
php_value session.use_trans_sid 0

from your .htaccess

That resolves my error message, so it maye fix yours.

just tried to upload the file without changing anything apart from the txt file to .htaccess and its the same again just a 500 error which is on the site businessadvertisement.co.uk now.... i`m gonna change it back now tho...

I'm convinced its down to the 2 lines in .htaccess.

i tried removing the text and then the page loaded but still the links on the left didnt work. i havent looked at the error logs. to be honest i`m a novice and wouldnt no where to find them or if i`d understand them... my site just got onto second page of google for business advertisement thats why i wanna get this sorted, and start getting some clicks.

thanks for all your help everyone i`ve come to the conclusion that something is wrong with my host settings. i`ve rang tham but they have no idea what to do/what to change. thanks anyway everyone.
