Well I guess the main tip I can offer is to plan so that you know exactly what you want and then outsource to quality people without trying to cut too many corners on cost. I'm a tech phobe so very little of it is my own work./QUOTE]
Thats what we try and do with most projects, I'm neither a designer or a coder and at this point I won't ever be. Its relatively easy to hire good people in both for not too much $. I think as long as you can plan out projects from start to finish, and have the funds to finance them, thats far more important than being able to do each individual part personally. I'd love to be able to do my own php, but right now it would be pointless to try and learn, there are significantly more profitable ways to spend my time. If I need something coded, I need it doing properly and would rather pay $10/hr and outsource.
Cost wise I'll split that design and development outlay over at least 3 domains so my cost per site will be much lower overall.
Another great approach
Changing the logo and the large top image is a 1 hour job at most, and the new site is going to look great. Plus if you get a bunch of similar domains you can also further reduce seo costs by interlinking them.
