My laptop has died

I've not read all this thread but when I worked at the Palace club in Blackpool, we had moisture issues. The front of house used to have a computer for VIP memberships. We used to have like 5 dehumidifiers (I think thats the one). We also used to use big bags of what I think was Charcoal powder to absorb moisture.

I'm sure there are other tips and my advice maybe wrong, as its about 10 years ago maybe more, but worth researching if your having on going problems :)

I had the same moisture (sea air) problem on my old desktop as well as the laptop, I had the computer at a table in a large bay window area (5 windows) and I have the windows open all the time day and night, after a while moisture must have got in to the desktop.

I knew it was the sea air because I tried it multiple time with the windows closed for hours and it worked fine, but within a couple of minutes of the windows being opened, the monitor screen used to go green and then the monitor clicked and switched itself off, see air is a computer killer

Bloody hell, just lost my desktop, absolutley gutted all my old emails gone, logins and passwords gone :(

Feel like I have lost an arm.........

Had a plumber and then builder in last week, just flicking the power off without warningm me and letting me turn the desktop off properly. How many times did I tell them to stop doing that sh1t, then Monday all just went to pot and wouldn't even start back up.

Not a happy chappy

I had a plumber (who also did electrics apparently, but not well) do exactly the same to me 2 years ago, except I managed to survive by quickly buying a UPS for about £30 from ebuyer on next day delivery. Well worth it as it's kicked in several times since then.

All may not be lost though, the hard drive may well be OK and you can get the data off it. When you say won't start up do you mean no power or just won't boot properly. Unless the hard drive has completely died, you would have very good chance of recovering all the personal data.

Did you get this sorted yet do you get any signs of life when you turn it on if not could be just your power supply gone a fairly easy fix. could even be the fuse in the plug
If it switches on but just wont boot up drop us a few more details I can probably help
