Hi,

Just looking to get an idea about this domain, i.e. usefulness or value.

Could be used for a "Living in London" long-stay individual (think aussie, kiwi, etc.) or relating to relocating to the capital.

Thanks for any advice provided.

Pete

What are the exacts like? I don't see an easy domain sale, leaving development as the only opportunity for revenue. Not a bad name though for marketing to people moving to London, e.g. property lettings, jobs etc.

Hi there,

Local UK is 1,000 monthly (exact) for "moving to London". Often sites focus instead at "living in London" and related keywords (more of a city guide for foreigners, but not a tourist guide per se). Latter has 2,400 searches. CPC is around $1.

I do know of a site that is focused on this area and receives about 10,000 monthly visitors. They pull in a lot of long-tail related traffic.

By the way, how are you doing with your Hotels In.. series of UK sites? Do they make anything?

Most being .org.uk not .co.uk... do you think that makes a difference?

Thanks for the reply.

Cheers,
Pete

10,000 visitors, that just shows what could be done with the name. However, that does not mean the domain is highly valuable, as the the issue is a lot of work needs to be done to see value.

My Hotels In sites are in need of some content development / SEO attention, but are a fair way down my priority list. There is potential in the sector but a major blow has been Google Local taking the top SERPs results.

.org.uk is absolutely fine if you are just going to promote by SEO and other "internet only" techniques. .co.uk is more important IMO if you are going to advertise in the "real world", e.g. TV, magazines. Google tuned down the benefit to exact match domains making them slightly less attractive, but they still help a lot on Yahoo and Bing, so .org.uk still attractive.

Thanks for your reply again.

I had similar thoughts on the value of a .org.uk vs .co.uk or a .com re future branding.

If you had a site that was aimed at British tourists mainly, but could also appeal to people outside the country, would you host it on a .co.uk or a .com?

My thinking is that hosting it on a .co.uk could give a boost to ranking position, but severely damage possible ranking on other country databases. However, a .com domain could still rank fairly well in Goog UK, but fine globally. Concluded .com made more sense. Would you agree?

Cheers,
Pete

I probably would go for .com in this case, so I can have international appeal too. However, either .com or .co.uk would be fine, and the important thing is to build a great site.
