crazy! Yeah, gonna be a lot of pissed of people now. Lets be honest, silk road isn't your local flower shop...I would not like to be in his position right now, that's for sure.

This is turning into a Daily Mail comments section.

The average drug dealer still lives with their mum.
More than 3 million people in this country take illegal drugs at least weekly.
I have personally known teachers, social workers, civil servants, nurses, etc who like a dabble now and again. That's a lot of fine upstanding (otherwise law abiding) citizens.

Middle class kids get away with it, the poor get criminalized and have their futures ruined.

I don't take drugs but the sooner we lose the hysteria and form a policy based on actual evidence the better. The most harmful drug in our society is alcohol, by a very long way. Prohibition is ridiculous and has been a complete failure while wasting billions.

Legalize, educate, regulate, licence and tax.
Halve crime overnight, free up the police to deal with real issues, save a fortune, and bring in a fortune in tax.

It will happen - I'd say we're about 5-10 years out.

Yes, all major criminal gangs have 'enforcers' whose full time job is to go round inflicting pain on those who have caused a problem for the gang, be it harming someone in the gang, owing the gang money etc. The gang leadership would not use up some of their profits paying these guys if they were just sitting around doing nothing.

Yes but only an idiot would believe the names being leaked are actually the ones responsible. The admin of the site pinched the money. So where are these 'enforcers' going to start ? They know the guy has an online nickname 'Defcon', other than that they're fucked basically.

Plus some people seem to think every seller on there is the real life incarnation of Tony Montana, or Tony Soprano. In reality they're dealing online - they're a bunch of computer geeks, they're not Pablo Escobar.

Granted all of the stuff surrounding this makes a nice Daily Mail story... but the reality is somewhat different.

i totally agree with you!

I don't know the kinda people who deal online to be honest, dealing online seems pretty stupid you could be selling to anyone even the fuzz and you'd have no idea. However I spent most my working life in late night entertainment so I have a good idea of the kind who run things in reality and I can assure you they don't live with their mummy.

I'm happy thinking its all nerds and little billy making a bit of money from his mum's back room, even then how many of these nerds just lost money they can't afford to their dealer and what's the knock on for them personally?

I hope no one gets anything serious, and its all daily mail hype, I really do.
