Hello,

I bought mexicohotels .com and I want to know your opinions, I've seen big sales in the past for this kind of domains like:

cancunhotels.com $120k
greecehotels.com $48k
mexicocityhotels.com $45k

Maybe the glorious EMD days are gone but I think it still holds some value. What do you think?

PS.
I know that it has been said here that if a co.uk domain is available, there is a big chance it's worthless but I just registered the .co.uk/.uk today just in case. :D

I used to have about a hundred t <place>hotel.com, <place>hotels.com, <place>hotellist.com and put entire sites based on the booking.com engine on all of them. Some never earned a penny and some earned quite a bit. Altogether they used to bring in about 4k per month. Then google changed their algorithms and all traffic vanished. I haven't looked at hotel sites since then but I would say these kind of domains need developing. Unfortunately booking.com seem to have changed the xml access that they used to give and now you have to apply to them but I would say if you're going to develop do it properly - ie keep the visitor right up until the checkout process (assuming you can't process the payment yourself).

Thanks for your input RobM, I doubt I will be developing a website because I don't have the resources to compete in the SEO field with big booking brands. I was suspicious about the market for this domains getting shrinked, but I just wanted to be sure because I plan to reach some end users. I guess I will have to lower my expectations.

They used to sell for big money (in .com) a few years ago for major cities. I remember them cropping up frequently in DNJournal's sales reports. But I've no idea if the 2-3 companies that seemed to be snapping them up then are still shopping, or not.
