Hand reg, going to stick a mini site up, hopefully get some traffic and sell site wide adverts to a law firm or something, the CPC is pretty high for Mesothelioma.

I know some people aren't huge fans of illness related sites, but if the information is correct then I can't see a harm in them.

Thoughts?

You may need a licence to carry any type of adverts relating to the claims industry.

There was thread on Acorn a few months' ago about this.

Even Google adsense? If you could link me to some information about this it would be appreciated. Every page will have a disclaimer about referring to a doctor/lawyer is that OK?

Hmm, having information about the disease doesn't seem to be a problem. And if i state in the t&c the advertising is contextual I can't see it being a problem, or if i don't mention claims, then its just a page about an illness?

Hi Aaron,

I can't advise you here. All I am saying is that there are some regulations you should be aware of. I telephoned the Ministry of Justice helpline to clarify matters around that time.

What I decided to do back then was to keep my portfolio of claims related domains for the minute then decide if it was worth registering with the MoJ to run this type of ad. I don't want top find myself on the wrong side of the law.... just my a personal preference ;)

Good luck, Luke

Cheers.

Well after reading the PDF, If I don't mention the word claim on the site then the site will purely be a information site about the disease, And I'm pretty sure as long as disclaimers are clear about the content then it should be ok.

To quote your site: "All the information on this site is from other sources and we can not be held responisble for it."

^^ I think this kinda sums it up really.

I'd be extremely wary about offering advice (purely on the hunt for adsense $$) to people who are dying from an artificially induced form of lung cancer. They (or their friends or family) are looking for serious help and support, but can you give that unless you are actually going to put some serious effort and commitment into the project?

My plan was to make some sort of community based site. I just saw the name and regged it, Obviously I want to make money from all my sites but it doesn't have to be so in your face.

I'm open for suggestions, may just cancel it as seems like a field that may be more trouble than its worth getting into!

It's up to you I guess, you're the only one who knows your real motivations.

Well from looking around there doesn't seem to be a community type site, A mini site was the plan but if I'm going to have trouble with standards etc then it's not really worth it! Would rather not get myself into trouble :). Can close this, cheers for the advice...will probably just stay away from domains like this.

Hmm, Cheers for them. I'm probably just going to park the domain! If someone randomly stumbles on it and want's it they can. Bit of a late night impulse one really, saw the CPC and got a bit carried away!

Email some of the cancer help groups etc and if they want it give it to them free...

Good idea, or forward it to a group that is in a position to offer advice, and is not just trying to make a few quid from some rewritten wiki article
