why have you said prefix/suffix - its only the suffix we're interested in - or am I being thick again?

What the original poster meant was that if you can't get KEYWORD.co.uk is it better to get KEYWORD.me.uk or somethingKEYWORD.co.uk or KEYWORDsomething.co.uk?

Why do nominet and domainers care about rules like "must be owned by an individual"?

The end consumer doesn't give a shit.

Only the .co.uk domain sellers who feel you should be stumping up a fat wedge seem to have an issue with .me.uk being used in a trading capacity.

Anyway, it's obvious that the original intentions of the .me.uk have no purpose anymore, Facebook are so entrenched in that method of engagement, that the notion of anyone wanting to have a personal web site sitting all on it's own on the web is frankly ridiculous.

By the way, does anyone know what the trademark number is, as referenced on Nominets' Facebook page?

Well I wouldn't call it a conspiracy, its just the suffixes are perceived very differently by the real world and nominet.

A real world scenario may show xyz.co.uk is viewed with more trust than xyz.me.uk. But it has nothing to do with these pointless rules.

I was searching for some tips on who people thought would win euro 2012
top scorers etc

clciked a link that loked interesting as had content and info wanted

turns out it was online-betting.me.uk :)

first page google global and uk for 'online betting' and on there with the really big boys
and I'm guessing for multiple terms
good little site and good content
very high traffic and I'm guessing makes fair old few quid
great achievement for owner

breaks all the 'domainer rules'
but most dominainers have never built a successful or profitable website in their lives, think is fair to guess

don't get me wrong, I too would choose a better extension (ideally com) and non hyphenated to build on

but who's to say it would rank as high anyway?

bottom line ranked, high, high traffic, great content and I will actually remember url :)
but most people will bookmark anyway these days or send on link

again, I would choose best domain I could get if launching into something passionate about and was going to give 100% and personally NOT choose a hyphenated .me.uk :)

conclusion, you do not NEED a .com or .co.uk to have a profitable or high traffic site
(let's keep that to ourselves ;))

I figure the guy deserves a backlink for all his hard work.
you deserve it on a hyphenated one and online betting is super competitive ;)

e3.me.uk currently at £400 on sedo....

There's hope for .me.uk's yet!

;-)
