MapofIreland.com in Auction Now

Trader history (0)

Bought this in auction last night, no reason other than I had a silly idea for it :)

Nice one, thank you.

I'm just following the process now with the information the auctioneers are sending through. :)

You wouldn't believe the messing about I've had with GoDaddy.

They've given me conflicting information about what I need to do next, telling me to put their codes in as though I am the one transferring the domain from my old registrar to them.

The codes didn't get recognised.

I've spent a lot of time trying to resolve the issue, and a little earlier i got a message from Support telling me to send all the codes, including one I got from Dynadot, to them for forwarding to you to help you process the transfer. This I have done.

Hopefully you should hear from them shortly.

Half the time they send mixed messages and seem to have a big gulf between normal support, and auctions.

Thanks for the update, certainly seems a pain in the arse compared to UK transfers, no wonder I rarely touch .com's. Shame it wasn't still with Dynadot or auctioned on there, as I have a Dynadot account where it could have been pushed to.

I dread getting their email with all codes and stuff lol

If you get nothing from GD later I'll happily send you the codes via PM.

Pushing is certainly easier than transferring a domain. I have more trouble with GD than the rest of my registrars put together.

I thought it was going to be a simple case of them pushing it to my GoDaddy account, not sure why there are codes needed, aren't those just for registrar to registrar transfer?

Yeah free push is a matter of minutes normally. No transfer codes required.

Just reading back and checked again, the domain was regged at Dynadot, but auctioned at GoDaddy, who then ask you to pay for an extra years reg when you win the auction, so I'm guessing the codes are for the seller to move it from Dynadot to GoDaddy so it can go in my account there, where it's then locked for 60 days, before I can move it back to Dynadot, talk about going round the houses eh

Oh I don't like that. Why should you be forced to register it with them if you don't want to?

I just assumed you wanted it transferred to your GoDaddy account and were happy to pay the year's extension for the privilege.

If you want I'll just 'push' the domain to your Dynadot account?

it must be one of their rules that they add a year on, purely so that they can keep you on their site for longer, more than likely in the hope you'll take out hosting or other services, not right is is.

I did try to cancel the extra years registration via the cart when paying for the auction winning fee, but clicking to remove the extra year also removed the auction winning fee, so I had to add it back in.

I only registered on GoDaddy to be able to bid on it, but if you're able to push it to my Dynadot account that would save hassle all round :) I'll PM you with my Dynadot username, cheers.

That's fine, I'll push it over to you.

Really sorry about the issues, I've seen it from both a buyer's and seller's side. I particularly hate it when they tell you different things, their staff training seems lacking.

I hate G.D.'s upselling methods, they spend too long on trying to make money instead of looking after their customers properly.

No worries mate, not your fault, that's GoDaddy for you. At least with Dynadot there's no messing about, it's the only site I've ever used for any .com's I've owned, and the support on there is brilliant whenever I've needed it.

Thanks for your patience.

This has now been resolved after the domain was 'pushed' to the buyer.

No thanks to GoDaddy!
