Hi Caz,
It is a fact that the way all his sites are set up can lead to many if not all of them being penalised by Google. That is obviously not his intention, still the methods he is using to not only create the sites, but to crosslink/build links to them has a very high chance of picking up a penalty in the future. I have seen it happen to many of the same kind of sites. Completely de-indexed overnight.
There are too many negative footprints involved including:
- The same template/theme on all sites
- Registered to the same owner
- Set up on the same hosting
- Many links from each site to others in his "network"
When/If Google does decide to mass ban all the sites, there *may* be a chance that sites that also have been linking to his network will be seen as part of the problem and also have action taken against them.
It is Risk vs Reward really. One piece of free content in return for linking to a bad neighborhood of sites, really does not sound worth it to me.
Ah I see.
So if they look at all those factors they could possibly include part of who's linking to it, and if you do it once you could maybe have done it several times for free content, so you look like the network even if your not.
Sorry for the question but I couldn't work it out, thanks.
