I'm in two minds as to whether to delete this thread or allow it to remain so everybody can see what a prick you can be.

I dont think it should be deleted, there may be some genuine responses for the OP after the trolls toddle of to bed

Aegean,

You may be interested in visiting londonist.com and signing up for their daily newsletter of things going on in London. They cover a wide range of topics including trendy, historic and geeky ones.

Blogs like IanVisits and diamondgeezer cover lots of London-related stuff.

There's always lots going on in the way of free talks etc at the various museums and professional bodies in London. Plus there are groups like the Open University who do lightweight stuff as well as heavy courses.

I realise you only asked about meeting up for a drink with people on here, but I thought you might find this broader range of activities of interest too. The social aspects will vary, but you may find some interesting things to do or meet up for a beer with kindred spirits.

Aye the night bus to hell. but believe me, when I get hold of him, his fingers are going to the hammer.

Sorry to hear about your loss. London can feel disconnected if you're used to a smaller community. Hang on in there mate, you'll find the right people.

Cheers murph, I just don't know the place very well, but in time I suppose it'll get better. it can be awkward on your own. I'm fine though, its just a bit boring going to pub alone.

Hey don't be silly, I see why you were upset though, you come forward to make a nice post and someone pulls the carpet from under you, befor eyou know what to do you have started defending yourself where you don't need to. It happens to me all the time, I have whinge and I'm ok again.

I bet invincible is feeling a bit flabberghasted at how it went, so I wouldn't wish any harm on him if I were you, never good for anyone.

A couple of acorn members live right by you, start your own get togethers, just watch out for people looking at getting jobs and touting your domains and people with bags of compasses.

We all have to accept responsibility for our actions. Simple as that. You make your bed, you lie in it. I'm an ex commando, my pals will track him down in 2-3 days. I'm not in the frame of mind to accept this.

I do appreciate your wise words though, plus I know you're right.

I think Stephen will have to step in now as your not reading this all right, I'm gutted for your loss and you must be fuming now having interpreted it in the wrong context.

What does it matter what I look like or what my accent sounds like? You dont know either of these things. There are all sorts of folk here.In all honesty, you're just being a dick.

In the wrong context? i'm not annoyed at you caz, im annoyed at him. You havent said anything wrong.

I know that silly.

You and invincible have more in common than you think reading this.

Stop now invincible, its only making it worse, right or wrong etc

I find it a bit strange because I live by myself, I've never lived in London before, and I'm not used to how things are here. if you go to pubs by yourself here in west London, the staff are friendly but its not so easy to speak to people on your own. I was simply trying to say that in my original post, but for some reason you decided to take the piss out of me.

Its more about morality. If you find having a discussion in this manner with someone clearly distressed is appropriate, there is something severely lacking.
