Just a small note. I don't want to bring the whole .co.uk and .org.uk topic up in here, it was discussed many times on Acorn.
The point is: I asked dozens of my friends (not domainers or eCommerce pros) simple question "If you find a site on G, do you look at the extension?". And you know what, NONE of them said that they do. They look at the description.
And as liquorice with co.uk is a holding page, then putting my domain as No. 1 in SERPS is a matter of days (maybe weeks). With more than 6.5K UK exacts and lots of popular sweets available this type of domain is simply made for affiliate shop regardless of the extension (see my initial post).
I don't disagree with anything you have said, the value is what you can see in it.
The trading value between org.uk and co.uk for name only is up to 80% difference, but based on actual earnings that gap is bound to narrow.
