Life Habits

When you go to the biscuit tin ask yourself, am I having a biscuit because I'm hungry or is it habit. When you establish that you will have the key to overcoming a problem, assuming you see it as a problem in the first place.

If biscuits are your downfall, stop buying them. Temptation solved.

I have good diet habits but I have some sympathy for those who don't. If you smoke, drink alcohol or gamble, you just have to say I don't do any of these things any more. So if you smoke you tell your brain you don't smoke ( I know easier said than done ) . Same with alcohol consumption. With food it's different , you have to eat or you die, it's a question of what you eat, how much you eat, when you eat and educating your body and mind to do it properly. I think the lock down has given people the opportunity to look inwards towards themselves and maybe learn a few truths about personal values.

I ordered some masks that just came

One cloth the other disposable medical style

God they're warm to wear aren't they

Lovely for the winter outside I bet to keep your nose warm but I don't think I'm going to enjoy wearing them to shop

It's silly but they make me feel slightly claustrophobic

You need to find a mask that suits your situation, maybe just do a light snood if that's better. You do get used to the mask though.

I don't think it's silly really. Anything alien takes a bit of getting used to :). I have some n95 ones. I only wear them in very specific circumstances like shops etc. In the open air for example I don't think there's much risk and in some other environments it's not practical to wear them. I just try to make small changes that added up likely make a difference for myself and others.

You're right really, as I've certainly eaten out of habit or boredom plenty of times. I only realised this when I decided to do a fast and then got back to eating and looked at it in a slightly different way. It made me realise how not having much structure leads to me opting for snacks etc. Not as though it's an addiction, but I exercise and so want to make the most of that rather than work against it!

Sums what up ? What you think, not what the overwhelming majority of people think.

This thread is about how we have changed our habits during this pandemic, for the better for the worse ? It's not about anti democratic anti government views. They are for the ballot box.

The overwhelming majority of people don't think...that's the problem. This isn't about politics...it is about why habits have changed. What have they changed for? Wearing masks, that can cause you harm, just shows those making the rules that you'll do pretty much anything they tell you to do. The below is from that video.

We should stop saying this is for the greater good, when you close the economy killing millions of businesses that families have worked generations to establish, that’s anything but good.

Treating your neighbour like they have the plague, breathing your own bodily waste wearing a mask, living in constant fear of contamination.

Last year 1.5 million people died of tuberculosis…why were you not wearing a mask during that - I'll tell you why, because the mainstream media didn't tell you to wear a mask.

Now get this. You know there's some ironies that are here in a society that kills millions of babies a year for convenience, has shut itself down to prevent adults from dying. People that on the one hand slaughter babies in the womb by the millions are preaching to the masses about the sanctity of human life.

If i violate the stay-at-home order I can be arrested, but you're letting convicted criminals out of prison so they don't get the virus.

If there's a real pandemic does it require faulty models, rigged test results, false positives, inaccurate news reporting, staged hospital overruns, manipulated death certificates? Nope.

You know when the government shuts down millions of small businesses but doesn't lay off any government employees, it's not about the health.

When the state bans dentists from practicing, but deems it necessary for abortion clinics to stay open, it's not about your health.

Out of interest, if/when a vaccine is available and it appears to be effective and a way of moving beyond covid-19, would you have it?

As a rule, I stay away from any medications as far as I can.

As for vaccines, I'm in favour of them, if it is shown that they are demonstrably safe and effective. A typical vaccine takes 5-15 years to bring to market, and even then they are not rigourously tested.

If you can find a vaccine that has been subjected to the industry standard for medications, that is the double-blind placibo test...let me know. As the vaccine industry is protected from being sued, they don't seem to bother with such tests.

If a CV vaccine was introduced (sorry, that should be when it's introduced) ...ask yourself if you want to be a guinea pig. Also ask why Bill Gates states that the manufacturers will need to be indemnified before rolling out a program. They already are, but he seems to want to stress that. Also ask why every group and entity saying that a vaccine will be necessary, is founded to some degree by Bill Gates, who's wealth has doubles since he started his 'philantropy'.

Edit: One thing that should be investigated (properly...not fraudulently as was recently) is
hydroxychloroquine - but as it's off patent, there's no money in it.

Have you given this any serious thought. Of course we do what the people who make the rules tell us to do, that's the whole point of the way our society works, we elect a government to govern, if we don't like what they do we vote them out. while they are in, we do as they say, it's no good sawing sawdust, we are where we are and we have to wear masks under certain circumstances.

The Milgram experiment comes to mind here...

Where would you draw the line? Obviously not when it might be detrimental to yourself and others.

Thanks for the reply! I do understand in practical terms why people not in vulnerable groups wouldn't automatically want to be front of the queue, or have it at all in fact. But anyway in practical terms in seems unlikely that you would in almost any scenario.

I just think that the idea that the lockdown made things worse, masks harm you and vaccines are to be shunned (if we wait 5 years they would not hold a purpose) is indicative of a mindset rather than an approach. I do appreciate that situations like this aren't one size fits all, but I don't personally have a problem with masks, hygiene measures and a degree of distancing. In fact I think if we'd have enacted some of these measures to begin with, it may have negated the point of a lockdown. The problem is that essentially we were advised to do nothing.

I put mine on when I go into a shop, so it's only on for a few minutes. Keep it in a Ziplok plastic bag. I agree that it's hot, but when you know it's for the briefest while it's not really any sort of burden. Don't see a need to wear one on the streets if you do the usual shy-and-swerve away from other people as they pass you

I'm sure you're all sleeping much better tonight thanks to the masks :)

Put a Mask On! (Warning: Contains strong language)

If you hate wearing a mask. You are really not going to like wearing a ventilator.
