I'm not sure why this discussion is continuing about what securities should be in place at DL.

None of us know exactly what Denys has in place and he isn't going to change it based on this thread.

IMO he has already caught and outed several shill bidders so the current system must be pretty tight. And has far more securities in place for shill bidding than other auction platforms.

What about if you read all my posts in this thread? I mentioned earlier that people wishing to do this would need to remote into their home machine to do this. That isn't difficult, especially thesedays.

I read all your posts, As Ben said Denys is doing a good job of stopping shill bidding, I don't really think anything needs to change.

Whilst I applaud Denys action in trying to eradicate this (I don’t envy him the task he sets himself) this may work weeding out less informed (you might say amateurs) but leaving organized individuals / groups a free range? You should always be aware it might be happening so take precautions? (one it never happens would be ideal but that’s not a reality).

Shill bids, bouncing, price creeping, order changes, reserve nods, advertised lower than the actual reserve, group bids, etc there are lots of activities around auctions that have been there ever since auctions have existed and will be there for as long as they do ..

The price you’re willing to pay should be set by what your research has given you? Not what others are bidding..? Ultimately you don’t have to increase your bid…

All this talk of approved IP's to bid, VPN's and being able to still bid from your iphone might as well have been written in Chinese - I don't understand it at all

So if you put all those measures in place, people like me will simply not bid on domains we wanted, but didn't want badly enough to stay at home to bid on. I work from cafes, parks and other public places. I just can't be at home to bid sometimes. Are sellers are happy to accept lower sale prices because of blocking legit bidders out of auctions?

I don't think *any* of the measures mentioned here are going to have any noticeable effect on stopping shill bidders either. If someone wants to shill bid, they're going to do it. Nothing Denys can do or say is going to change that. No matter how many technical blocks and checks he puts in place, how can he possibly stop someone asking a friend to bid for them? If he's still only verifying by SMS then you don't even need a friend, you need a free sim card and a net cafe...

Denys keeps mentioning he's detecting people and so on... but like Invincible is saying we have no idea how many auctions are being tampered with. I suspect its extremely high. Not just on domainlore, but on every public domain auction platform. I bet its at least 25%.
