Thanks for comments and helping me figure out this name.
You know I once let a domain go that I knew I should have bought at a certain price. The price of that was £600 a few years ago and I let the deal slip (I'm sure it's worth high xxxx today with easy development too) - one of my biggest mistakes looking back. I just didn't want to let this one slip - But I really had to analyze and act quickly.
Who knows if this is a mistake or not. For anyone interested here was my thought process.
1. I have the money.
A miracle deal had happened recently. I had been carrying a made up .com word (so called brandable) for 8 years. I had kept it for so long for a crazy idea I had and also because of a possibility that the developed .net Chinese website might want to acquire the domain. I had decided I wasn't going to renew it and I'd let it drop. A Chinese guy contacted me, seemed really dodgy, we negotiated, used Escrow, domain transferred and I got paid - almost the exact same amount as the asking price for this domain!
2. My LLLs aren't doing it for me
I've been trying to flog a few for ages and it's tough. Domainer supply/demand is out of whack - prices are too cheap. I'm offering seu.co.uk (great letters), qmg.co.uk and fsq.co.uk for £600 at the moment - for all 3 (let me know if you can pay fast by BACS to get this price). I'm selling them at a significant loss and maybe I'm repeating my decision (mistake) to buy a bunch of LLLs in buying an LL, but I wanted to join the club!
3. The letters
I really like the letters. Maybe for dating (maybe for the other thing I have planned). Even though there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of potential end users in any search, one US uni pretty much owns the IU space, I still like them. If you run through all the 2 letter combinations there's probably 3 tiers and imo this is tier 2. (Top tier is words "go", "me", "yo"... second tier is good combos/acronyms/meaningful connectors/maybe doubles "mc", "eg", "cc", third tier is the rest "tl", "qo", "xt")
4. Trimming the portfolio
Maybe counter productive to reducing my portfolio. I bought this knowing that I have to do something with it (time/money). So I knew that even though I have the cash from the other sale, I know I have more reason to up my domain sales (if necessary reducing the prices). I figured buying another xxxx name will psychologically get me ready to reduce my domains to important ones.
Note: Now's a great time to twist my arm and get better prices for the domains I have listed (with already slashed prices) at:

5. vikrantjain22
Vik sold me 3 LLLs in what turned out to be the most f-ed up deal I've ever done. I'm sure he will say the same. F-ed up because of a clash of personalities maybe, and Vik being a bit ungrateful - whatever. I got the domains and he got paid. Anyways I was in a competitive mood and when I saw he made the £1500/24 hours deal, I felt reassured in any potential loss (based on someone else being behind me with a £1500 offer) and I had a little extra reason to beat him to the punch - he's one of my domaining enemies!
lol (I only have two)
I had to think about all this stuff pretty quickly and some miracle money landing in my lap at just the right time was probably the extra motivation and I may regret saying that I don't see too big a risk or potential loss.
In the few minutes before I posted sold, I weighed up the dating angle, I drew something very similar to Ash's second logo (with the heart as the 'i' dot). But I know that this must be a very competitive area that I have no idea how to compete in - maybe affiliate commission for existing dating sites - but then there goes the i-u brand…
I'm with Bailey that the IU brand/letters adds value (along with the shortness) I just wouldn't know how to get the dating stuff started and if it's even possible to compete with the big sites, or join them for affiliate stuff.
There are a bunch of things that could work for heart and soppy related stuff, like the i-heart-u, but the idea that I think I'm going to start out with is related to education.
It might not work, but my plan is pretty much a directory site with adsense and affiliate stuff. I have some other sites that do well with this similar format … so I expect to earn back 25-40% of the price within 12 months. We'll see - as usual depends on time.
Ok I've gone on a bit…
Please take a look at my domains at the link below because this purchase really did wipe out available cash for me at the moment:

Can do great deals on bulk purchases.
