On October 1-3, 2024, it.com Domains joined the CyberChess 2024 in Riga, Latvia. Natalija Japerte, Business Development Manager represented the company at the event.

The CyberChess conference is an event dedicated to cybersecurity in the Baltic countries. Every year, it brings together experts from various fields, including security stakeholders, internet service providers (ISPs), representatives of the domain industry, and other interested parties. The event provides a space for discussing and analyzing the latest trends, issues, and innovations in cybersecurity.

This year, participants spent three days in Riga, taking part in sessions and panel discussions on key topics in cybersecurity and law.

One of the most interesting sessions was the panel discussion “DNS on Steroids”. Experts, including Helmuts Meskonis, of Domain Summit and Hostmaria, also the advisor for it.com Domains and the owner of the Acorn Domains and DNForum, delved into the ever-evolving Domain Name System (DNS).

Experts of the panel discussion “DNS on Steroids” (from left to right): Katrina Sataki (NIC.LV), Kristians Meliņš (NIC.LV), Dana Ludviga (CERT.LV), Iveta Skujiņa (NIC.LV), Helmuts Meskonis (Domain Summit Ltd.), and Kirils Solovjovs (Possible Security).

The panel discussed traditional DNS and also the emergence of new generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs) and their growing impact on the domain market. Experts highlighted both opportunities and challenges for businesses and consumers, with a focus on the potential for innovation in decentralized internet addressing.

The it.com Domains team took an active part in the event agenda. In addition to sessions on various Internet security issues, it established connections with leading Latvian companies, such as NIC.LV, and shared with participants the our experience in protecting .it.com domains from cybercrime.

Natalija Japerte, Business Development Manager of it.com Domains, and Katrina Sataki (NIC.LV).

“it.com Domains has been dedicated to cybersecurity from the very beginning. Throughout our growth, we have been actively seeking out new ways to improve the security of our domains for both our clients and end users. We support initiatives from ICANN aimed at enhancing cybersecurity in the domain industry, as well as projects like
GoDaddy’s GlobalBlock,” shared Natalija Japerte. “Events like CyberChess provide an opportunity to explore new ways to protect online society from cybercrimes such as cybersquatting, phishing, spam, and more. We’re happy to be a part of this community that is working towards a safer and more secure online environment.”Want to know more about domain industry events?
