Imodo - teething troubles?

I do hope imodo dont do a sedo...

personally I find sedo's parking scheme messy and irritating. Ideally one wants to get domains in and configured in as few clicks as possible. I hope that once 1plus.net comes down you will ditch any legacy bits of the interface and streamline!

Yes, nice post. Absolutely. Your thinking is in harmony with ours.

The platform will be really simple to use once we close the 1plus element of the site. And in actual fact the internal dns switch we have to differentiate 1plus and imodo right now we will keep in the background and bring back to life again in the not-too-distant to allow users to park their domains with any of the main providers, while still using our NS.

Going back to your comment, its a fine balance actually to have lots of features and yet keeping it as simple as poss. iMODO actually has a lot more (if you like) complicated customization features on the way, including what weve called our "blank canvas" project - which does exactly what it says on the tin. The methodology however is and will always be to to keep it as simple or as complicated as the user wants to make it.

Hopefully that matches what domainers are looking for.

I have tried a couple of domains with IMODO, but concerned by the lack of what might be updated figures/domain stats. I put a sure-click through and reasonable number of visitors on, but concerned that these are not showing. What is the lag between getting clicks/visitors and updating in the control panel?

Hello

Agree with you on the stats - they are less than good ! - I have already emailed Ian Collier asking the very same question.

I like the 'concept' the fact they work off different feeds etc. - the pages look really good, but anyone who has been parking / using Adsense etc. knows that stats are vital to fine tune both the pages & know what they are earning.

When I look at the stats using the option of selecting a date range it only lists a couple of names, the monthly total which lists all the names seam to update daily about 6pm GMT for the Yahoo revenues which are in £ Sterling and a little later for the Streamic revs in US $. But come on iMODO tell us how it works and what we can expect rather then leaving us on this board to 'play around' and report our various findings !

Oh and by the way - not had any response from admin at 1plus.net as to how we will get paid - assume it is in hand, but would appreciate a reply either direcltly or better still on this board.

Best Regards

Badger,

Just added a million domains (39 is a million to me), how do I go about changing the templates from legacy to premium?

Ah, ok. Im concerned by this if you are not satisfied. Predominantly because as a domainer myself I know that stats are everything. Our actual stats update at about 7pm once a day. We could do this more often like others do but again, just like the other providers, it would just be a guess based on raw stats and I cant be doing with all that "heres your revenue, no its not" malarkey.

So heres what we did:

* Update stats once a day, when we get them, with real numbers
* Track and show raw stats from our server in real time (found in domain manager)
* Install the ability for users to add google analytics

Only point 3 is yet to be completed. But its still a work in progress and of course we welcome your suggestions.

Point 2 about getting paid. Our tech guys have this in hand and are working on a comprehensive accounts function. Payment at this very moment in time is unfortunately net 45. This is likely to change for the better before year end.

Ugly, please send me a PM with your login ID and i'll get you hooked up.

Jan 1 will see the addition of another 6 or so templates, including our "blank canvas" project which does "exactly what is says on the tin". If you excuse me ripping yet more of someone else's work.. :)

Thanks Badger,

PM sent, will the new templates include some finance based designs (have some finance domains I want to monetize).

Hi, sure, not specifically "finance" per se - but our "blank canvas" is literally something you can customize to your hearts content. Change the header, the font, the layout, the content, the footer, the page width, the background. Plus you can drag/drop in other "content" icons into wherever you want on the page (including the ad feed obviously). Add extra pages, add your own text, your own images etc etc etc.. I could go on...

If you have some finance domains that already get EU traffic, I can hook you up with a kind of prototype template that would work nicely for you and is achieving some quite nice results already.. Let me know if you're interested.

Ian,

Is their an optimize button knocking around, that will allow the powers that be to automatically optimize the domains on our behalf.;)

Not currently, but its on the list of actions... Just a case of priorities right now..

As far as a status update, I hope you like the stats package which is almost where we want it... Weve also installed "live raw stats" that are being taken directly from our server, so you get a real time / transparent feel on your traffic. Weve also added our "london" template which is proving quite popular for traffic domains. www.i-thankyou.com ;)

Has anyone seen what their Imodo sites look like indexed in google yet?

ALL of mine just have the domain name and no description. They are not new domains to google as they were parked with Namedrive before and although poor descriptions they did at least have one. There is no chance of any traffic from an organic listing like this which is supposedly the exact opposite of what Imodo seemed to promise.

3 examples (all co.uk's) . Search for the domain name in full as its the only way you will find them.

I'm not sure either. I have added some names that were revenue earning and on traditional parking, CTRs seam lower & rev. so I need the indexing to work otherwise they'll go back to ND. I have also added a few names with no traffic to both Whypark & Imodo on the same day to see what happens indexing wise. Not a very scientific sample , so what I am going to do this week is find 20 names that are not indexed anywhere and have virtually no traffic and put 10 with Whypark & 10 with Imodo and see what happens.

I'll report back in months time - Just in time to see what you all got for XMAS !

Cheers

Dave

I think you might be right, I've emailed iModo asking them to comment, as I moved one name on Nov 5 one that was nicely indexed as it was previously at Whypark, now all that is in Google is the domain title and no description.

Do a google search for twilights.co.uk

hmm - hopefully it is a teathing problem and will get fixed, however an update please Mr IMODO !

My site perfumesforless.co.uk has just been indexed by google, there is no description or cache, so you guys are'nt alone.

I have to say that I really like the concept of what they are trying to do and I think it has great potential. However unless google is prepared to play the game, relectantly I'm going to have the rethink.

BADGER an update would be appreciated.

hi guys,

Ok, got to the bottom of this... The reason why this is currently so is because we banned the google bot...

Long story, the short answer being that we have security measures in place that tell bots not to follow a particular link.. This catches all the scrapers and bad bots that dont obey what we tell them to do.. Unfortunately Google bot seems to have not obeyed this rule on one occasion and hence got itself banned..

As ironic as this is, i appreciate this doesnt help something which we previously prided ourselves on... That being lots of nicely indexed pages... Ok, proactively, were gonna resolve this issue today..

Thanks for the update badger, and while your at it can you update the clothing section please, my bikinistofit.com comes back with babywear clothing. cheers mate.

Weve a brand new shopping platform coming out any day now that we hope you'll be real excited about..

Badger,

Appreciate the update, I for one have no problem with mistakes (made a few in my time) all I ask is that we are kept informed. As I said before I think you've got a great product with great potential, however it doesn't matter how good the product looks if it "doesn't do what it says on the tin".

Keep us informed and I look forward to the updates. Many of us on here have a few hundred domains (myself included) that could potentially be coming your way once our "trial" domains have proved the concept.

Not a problem Dave.. And thanks for appreciating what are simply teething problems of our new platform. Unlike regular parking, its not simply a case of calling up a background layout a PPC feed, theres a lot more that goes into what iMODO is trying to accomplish and hence we have the inherent and associated problems of being just that bit more complex.

I can assure you though, we have a bunch of really bright techs who are working hard on de-bugging the current platform as well as bringing forward if you like the new features and revenue streams.

On a positive note, I can report that for domains with European traffic, were seeing some really nice RPC coming through..

And if you need to get hold of me for assistance please send me a PM for my contact details.
