Microsoft creates world's first WiFi map
Low-flying aircraft dispatched to gather information for Microsoft’s alternative to GPS.

Microsoft and Google are currently battling it out to produce detailed maps of every corner of the Earth. But while Google is using satellite images to build up a complete picture of the world for its Maps service, Microsoft is attempting something very different.

According to the FT, the Redmond giant is building the world's first WiFi map, by sending out cars and low-flying flying aircraft to track down millions of wireless networks across the globe. The process has already begun in the US and is expected to expand to the UK and other countries shortly.:razz:

Where can you find the reg history i.e previous to current reg,of domain names? i presume you are saying that someone reg'd it 3 years ago then let it drop...

Sorry, i hadn't been clear in my post, the .com was registered 3 years ago. so all i meant was you weren't alone in thinking it was worth a punt!

Ok I see... thanks, yes if you check out alot of the tech news sites are talking about how they are developing software to rival GPRS using wifi hotspots, also thought the name could be used to pinpoint all the wifi hotspots in a given city?...
