Wanted: Domain Appraisal How Much is this Domain worth?

Hi,

A Few months back i bought this dvd from a mate of mine who didn't have time to develop it into a dvdshop he wanted to,So i bought it for a few Pounds to Sell or hopefully try and make a Shop/Profit out of it!

as there isn;t a site behind the domain you can only base the value on the name alone. If there was a site this would mean the domain carried relevant traffic and would be worth a bit more.
Valuations are extremley difficult and personal, different people look for different things. top of the valuations would be dvd.co.uk but you have the word "the" and "shop" -"shop" is acceptable addition and describes what the site offers unfortunatley "the" is normally a no no for any domain buyer and would kill any decent value for the domain.
Unless you can find someone who wants the name most general buyers wont be interested if you get an offer for £500 take it.

I would take a £100 if you can get it. Might be better to develop it!

TheDVDshop.com is for sale on Sedo.

It shows 14 unique visits a month, which is not very many.

.co.uk will be much worse for type-ins.

Therefore its only value is as a developed site, or sale to an existing DVD retailer as a brand (albeit generic!) domain.

Try a few phone calls - you never know!

Any Advice on where to phone? I Was thinking of looking up dvd wholesalers forums and getting a partner help me run it

Maybe try this route:
(don't blame me if it all doesn't work!)

Sign up to say affiliateforum.co.uk

Sign up to say http://www.urfreecd.co.uk and some other affiliates that sell cds and dvds

Design a nice few pages around latest dvds and offers etc and link through to these merchants where necessary.

Then look in yellow pages and contact a bunch of small/midrange music/dvd shops and give them all a call and sell the design of the site, and tell them all they need to do is plug in their own ecommerce etc and its all up and running.

You may get some webdesign and promotion fees into the bargain.

Amount of work involved - quite alot - maybe a week or so of evenings.

Possible return on work involved - not too high - £500 - £2,000 perhaps, I imagine but alot better than the £100 you haven't been offered for the domain.

Total cost to you in money - zip.
