Grabbed this on behalf of a client, but he's still debating whether or not to develop further or go in favour of a more brandable name - any ideas as to value?

I know hyphens are definitely a strike against it...that's about the extent of my knowledge. Any thoughts would be much appreciated :)

Hi Blossom,

I wouldnt value this domain at much with the two hyphens. I wouldnt bother to waste your time developing this name but then again thats up to you .

Good Luck

Hi Wizard,

Thanks for your reply :) Should I recommend to him he leaves it to drop then?

I quite like it. I guess it depends exactly what his business is going to be, but assuming it's a site for villas throughout the whole of Spain, then I think it's pretty reasonable. It will look good in the SERPs.

My thoughts are.

If it's for a portfolio of properties Then the domain is Ok even good with the .org. If he has a select few properties then don't go down the "generic route" look for something brandable that he can attach to

Thanks for everyone's thoughts.

My other concern is that it will be confused with the non-hyphenated version of the name, which is a live site.

I believe that he intends to create a site around rentals and hopefully attract some advertising/interest from the bigger companies out there, but at the moment he's thinking of a) selling it b) dropping it c) forwarding it to a domain with a more brandable name d) developing it a bit further and then linking to his main site from it...

...so basically anything!

One more reason to settle for another domain.
.org doesn't really fit for commercial use IMO and the two hyphens don't make the name memorable. In fact it doesn't look professional enough. Everyone will know you're cheap and a tight wad and could not afford a decent domain - ah. I'm kidding :p

SEO: OK
Word of mouth: NOK

I would really do some more brainstorming. Or build a shortlist of alternatives and check the domains one by one. There must be a few available for sale, possibly at a reasonable price.

Harsh words!

Ok, should I recommend he drops it or is it the kind of thing that would appeal to an affiliate  I've just looked and all the other main extensions were taken. I'm a total noob at this, I've literally never sold a domain.

I always think it never hurts to invite offers on a domain before dropping it. Post it in the Other section on here and on dnforum.com.

I haven't got time to give a valuation, but I think it has some chance of selling. The main issue is the poor state of the Spanish property market right now.
