How does Sedo really work?

Just looking at a few .co.uk auctions on Sedo.

A couple of questions occurred to me:

1 There seem to be about 30 all finishing at the same time - how does this happen? Is this an event or promotion of some sort?

2 Lots of domains have bids to just under their reserve. eg: reserve range £1000 to £4999, highest bid £999. Why does someone bother to bid £999? Or is it the seller? (!)

3 If a domain is on sale with Sedo and an offer is made - can it then be put to auction with a reserve?

1 - yes sedo auction events where ppl submitted for auction
2 - some unverified accounts have restriction on bids. if you say 499 maybe it's the buyer which is not allow
3 - no, the offer will be the starting bid no reserve allow

So most of the .co.uk domains (inc those that have just finished), where they have reserves, have been entered into one form of event or another.

Presumably these are events that you have to apply to have domains accepted for?

Are the charges still the same as for a domain where an offer has triggered the auction?

They will happily accept generics for their auctions but they expect like a £30 reserve on everything

I guess I should really have looked for that.

Do Sedo actively promote any of the domains in any way, other than general promotion of the actual auction event itself? I presume probably not - unless it's sex.com or something almost as good.

Basically if your domain sells only £5 they still get their £35 minimum fee off you - in other words they don't care if you lose out which is why they insist on silly reserves so unless you own something like phones#co#uk then they want you to use a very low reserve to ensure a sale so they get their money.

If you sell on Sedo then they take £35 or 10% which ever is higher ?

Too late, been married too long to break the yes habit now....
Yes you get the option to resubmit with THEIR reserve. It gets auto accepted if you do
