looking to buy a keyword .com/.co.uk or possibly .org.uk homework related domain for a friend

budget xx to very low xxx

pm or post - will take a while to respond, as I'll need to run any names via them first.

should have been clearer - this isn't for home working... its for homework, as in the work kids take home to do....

types of names:
homework
kidshomework
homeworkhelp

etc...

Should they really be teaching children that you don't do all your work in the office, and you must spend your evening doing it?

Wouldn't they be better teaching them to do their work during working hours, then go home and enjoy their evenings and arrive fresh the next day ready to do a full day's work?

It may be because teachers have never worked in a normal working environment and don't know how it should be, but they are really teaching children a culture which is not good for their well-being.

Surgeons don't take home hearts and brains to work on in the evening, bank tellers don't take the money home to count it, why should children be forced to work at home?

There should be some sort of working hours restriction, so they are not still working on their school work after twelve hours, as they seem to be doing at the moment.

Regards
Bruce

Bruce - I'm not sure if you are trying to be funny or not but as a teacher (which believe it or not has take home and holiday work) I know kids definitely need homework (I think most people/parents would agree).

I've worked in an office before and was more involved day to day with running a small business too - all of these jobs had take home work.

There's an educational justification to why students should do homework, but focusing on you assertion that surgeons don't have take home work is crazy.

Also teachers don't set the homework policy. That's done by the people on the offices with the 9-5 and I bet you the teachers take more work home than them.

The way society is set up for people to get ahead they have to take work home. Otherwise set sights lower and work in retail or in a supermarket (non-management).

Thanks Stephen for those - passed along.

Regarding the should kids do homework or not debate (far more interesting then the domain wanted original post!!), as a parent i think they absolutely should. If my youngest was given a choice, he'd spend his homework time watching tv or playing video games - not sure how either of those two would help further his education....

To play devil's advocate, I spent my time after school building websites. It's helped me more than formal education has really ;)

Having said that, school isn't actually that many hours of work. We had an hour's lunch break, two 20 minute breaks, and 5 minutes between each lesson, starting at 9 and finishing at 3:15. That's very few hours compared to the typical 9-5:30 day with only a half hour or hour lunch break. So homework is a good way to get more hours in and prove understanding without the distraction of other kids.
