I'm using windows 7

Just got a windows pop up with a problem, I think it said something about memory

I restarted, and look at my CPU which is at 25% and phsyical memory is 90%+

I know from looking at it before that CPU on my laptop when not doing anything is usually 0

When I run chrome is jumps up to 90% CPU

What might cause this and any idea how to fix it?

Thanks

Edit> running a malwarebytes scan atm

crypto miners eat cpu . Think theres a load of them going around at mo.

It could just be an extension ? Have you reset chrome to default to see if fixes it

1. Click the Chrome Menu on the toolbar and then click "Settings."

2. Select "Show Advanced Settings" from the bottom of the page and then click "Reset Browser Settings."

3. Click "Reset" to revert your browser configuration to default.

I updated Malwarebytes did a scan, nothing was detected

But I also started in safe mode and CPU was 0% and physical memory under 1gb so also very low

I can't see anything in my processes that's using a lot of memory

I don't know what to look for

It's at 25% when Chrome isn't running, I don't think it's chrome

That’s kind of circular! Anyway, good you managed to sort it out...

Maybe this is my problem, I been pissing about with my pc for last couple hours after it being ok all day, went out for a bit, came back and everything started freezing, eventually got a blue screen of death. On restarting the warning came up about malwarebyes web protection being off, tried restarting but it just sticks, had that issue before. When I googled it I was on google.com so figured something else was messed up. Only logged on here while the troubleshooter is running.

I reinstalled, still had error, restarted and it has the correct update package and seems to be ok

Relieved it wasn't some kind of big error with the laptop itself, hate faffing around having to replace parts
