Hi all ...welll I'm newish to domains, I have one for a bag site of mine as I'm a reseller for an Italian company and another for a new site I just started, but just recently had a bit of a buying frenzy on them and now own over a hundred.
I've got quite alot of .mobi ones, as taking a bit of a punt on this extension coming into it's own in 2 or 3 yrs and I have got quite a few good short ones and other very mobile related ones.
The site I've just set up I did as an Idea I had after I had gone and bourght a load, I decided rather than just list them or have them parked I would brand a few of the .co.uk and .com ones to market them myself, and maybe at the same time get some business from others who would like me to do the same with theirs.
Feel free to have a look if you want, as would appreciate any comments good or bad as long as constructive that is...:)

Cheers and hoping everyone good luck.

Hi Dave and welcome along.

Your branding site sounds like a decent way of selling domains, similar sites have worked well for others.

I'm not a big fan of .mobi domains myself, i do not see this extension flourishing, it had time to do so already and hasn't taken off. Not many users visit these sites with this extension in my experience but thats not to say i can't be proven otherwise ;)

Cheers

Hi there

Well I'm taking a chance on the .mobi and have got about 80 or so and when it comes to renewing them I think I'll probably be dropping quite a few, but keeping hold off the best ones.
I think that the .mobi ext was released way to early, before the mobile market and the technology was ready and over the next 2-5 yrs with further advances in the mobile device market especially the smart phones, the usability will be coming up to par with your laptop, taking applications out of clouds via the net to use on your phone I think will become common place, and the easiest and best way to have your web site automatically listed and optimized for the mobile market will be to put it through a .mobi domain as Barclays bank already does plus other major companies.
This will be the time when every company that wants to capture the ever increasing mobile internet market will be wanting a .mobi domain,
I hope :)

I can't knock your enthusiasm :) however your view of how it will develop is IMO off kilter. I believe it's the apps that will be key, not the extension.

To be fair that seems like a valid point you have, it may be the case but will the extension be deemed necessary? i guess only time will tell..

Like you say, with phones catching up will sites need to be created specifically for them or will they be visiting the regular .com sites as you would on your laptop?

Anyway good luck with them, i hope you are proved right :)
