Hi

I've got a domain expiring that I wish to renew. The domain is registered via Godaddy and I renewed it a couple of weeks ago while it was still live. The renewal went through Godaddy and is shwoing as expiring in 2010, however, the WHOIS is now showing the site as being registered via Key-Systems, who I have never registered anything with.

I'm trying to get hold of Godaddy but does anyone know why this might happen?

Cheers

When you do a WHOIS, what is the "Registered on:" date?

Have you checked your card statement for the payment? I would be concerned about this because if it's renewed through GoDaddy I see no reason why the WHOIS should not still say:

Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. (http://www.godaddy.com)

To clarify -- is this a .UK domain?

Sometimes US registrars go through Key Systems for their .uk registrations.

In July, our registrar provider, Global Registration Services, transferred any .uk
registration Go Daddy had to Key-Systems. We have an agreement in place with
Key-Systems, to register and manage.uk domain names. They are not able to directly
support or modify any domain names registered through Go Daddy unless they receive
permission. All .uk domains registered through Go Daddy are still managed at
GoDaddy.com.

Thanks for your responses - I head back from Godaddy and they siad it can take up for a month for the nominet status to change, it is still a concern but they assure me it is okay!

A month!

Assuming it's a .uk domain, then unless it's a form-based registrant name change then any changes are pretty much real-time if the registrar sends a valid request to the automaton.

I'd verify just what they're doing, and get them to justify it.

Does your name still show as registrant on the whois?

Hi,

If the expiry date has changed to 2010 and it also shows:

Registration status:
Renewal request being processed.

This means the renewal has been requested, but until the ISP has actually paid for the renewal (30 days' terms) it will continue to show the "being processed" message. Once paid the Registration Status will change to: "Registered until renewal date".

This is what the godaddy support email said;

Thank you for contacting Online Support. I am sorry for the confusion. Please allow up to one month from the time you renewed the domain name for Nominet to update their whois information

I have written to them asking why it takes so long for this to occur.

It will be much easier to tell you what's going on if you post the domain in question so we can see the whois.

I second this - we're all pissing in the dark at the moment :)
