I have a site at recycledoc.co.uk that I can access successfully. A trace shows the site being accessed ok, and the 3rd party sites I have used all show the site up and working.

However, when the Google Adwords team in Ireland try to access it, they get a 404 for the http:// version and a 404 plus Err_cert_common_name_invalid when accessing the https:// version. Yet the log file shows the Adwords Bot accessing the site successfully today.

Would some of you mind trying to accessing it, see if you get a 404? I'm tearing my hair out here..

This is a really easy one, glue your hair back on....your site doesn't resolve with www. https://www.recycledoc.co.uk/

So why on earth would the Google rep get a 404?? Arggh.

They are using chrome and the site did return an error initially (for whatever reason). Now it's cached in his/her host resolver?

Works for me btw

Hmmm, cool, thanks! That does give the same blank 404 they demonstrated, though they should have only accessed https://recycledoc.co.uk not https://www.recycledoc.co.uk, and the screenshot they sent does not show the www.

Off to research IIS8! I have two sites set up, one at recycledoc.co.uk with bindings on port 80 and port 443, plus a second site with binding on port 80 for www.recycledoc.co.uk, with an IIS http redirect to https://recycledoc.co.uk. Can I add the same SSL to a binding on 443 for www.recycledoc.co.uk, to us the same redirect??

Thanks again.

It's nothing to do with Chrome, I've explained the problem, you have mis configured your hosting

Thanks, I've now configured it so all http://www. and https://www. redirect to the correct https://, however the Adwords rep still reports a 404 on both!

I've tried accessing both from a proxy in India and Ireland, without problem. Any other ideas? I can't help but feel it is a server problem somewhere, in that it produces the default 404 (see images above), not the custom site 404s.

Progress, it is not the website itself, but the server. Any website that the rep tries to access on the server gives the same 404 error.

So, any Windows 2012 experts - is there an IP policy that in some way could give a 404? Or perhaps at the hosts level?
