If you fail to renew your domain at expiry, not 92, beforehand, they delete your domain from your account, they're not being very helpful. They said add a card, I said no I want full control, just put them all back, they say add a card, I said I want to renew each one myself... they have no renew button, their system is akin to dd24 and I can't tell you how many domains I lost through that **** company.

Steer clear of HI for renewals, dangerzone, you'll lose big time. They have no renew button apart from the renew services page, which if fails, automatically delets domains from your account - so the whole point of me moving into heart so I could keep track of my domains and manage them has gone out the bleeding window, they delete domains from their account even when only under suspension, bloody idiots.

Yep that is one thing that lets them down,

They don't seem to be a company that takes too much notice of suggestions either, bit of a shame.

Tell me about it, I simply advised them there's a lot of domainers with them now and if they go through what I am at the moment, they will all leave. I wantged proper control over my domains, not some lacky deleting my domains just 'cause i aint renewed them, i simply asked them "don't you like money?"

We've come to a solution whereby they hopefully will supply me domain lists when I ask and then I'll renew through support each time but it's not far from ideal and will be looking for another way to manage my domains, useless situation. Even 123 reg allow instant renewal in suspension.

When they drop off the control panel, do HI inform nominet and cancel the domain or does it just drop off the control panel and expire from nominets systems in the normal way.

Cheers GW

Expires normal, heart just make it impossible to manage your domains properly and remove from account listing. I think they're on a .com scam, hoping to pick up domains, there's no other reason for it.

I dont let any hosting co manage my renewals, put all your domains in a list and scan it at least monthly to see whats due for renewal / you want to drop, it's the only way to be sure you dont miss something.

Yes but its so simple, why they delete during suspension I don't know, it makes no sense.

Because they assume you no longer want the names when they go sus, what use to you are they when there sus you cant do anything with them.

If you want them to stay in your control panel, then renew them

What does any domainer do with suspended domains? it's only the last month the dns is switched off. in the meantime offers come on sedo, you renew and sell, people see they're droppoing want them, make an offer, who are heart to delete suspended domains just because we know how we can manage our renewals, they're just being woefully inept at understanding their customers needs.

All they have to do is reset their timings and keep a list of domains, but for some reason, some sly reason, they aint doing it.

Given their published prices are so low and the places they advertise, then I would presume that they are setup to service bulk numbers of simple hosting customers and not a specialist domain market like us lot.

In my opinion (having used quite a number of registrars over the years), the best option for .uk management is getting your own Nominet membership and DIY

I was led to believe they were the previous owners of 123reg, 123reg allow domains to remain, they even have a renew link so you can easily renew your domain. To say it in south london terms, it's ******* silly to do it how they're doing it. Deleting suspended domains, which ever numskull thought up that should be sacked on the spot, bloody idiot.

it's the same guys that set up 123-reg, but they sold 123-reg before it went t1ts up.

Probably looking to do the same with HI later I'd imagine. I'd prefer it to be like Lee said but got Domain Research Tool anyway so shouldn't lose any, just more hassle if one does slip through.

I heard that they were a bunch of ex-123 employees who didn't want to make the move from Nottingham to Stockley Park, I suspect the owners are off living the good life :)

From a hosting company perspective, you issue a renewal reminder and the average customer is going to renew by or very shortly after the account renewal date (when their site goes off-line for non-payment of hosting fees), so why make the system cater with all eventualities when only a very low number of people need it. The prices they charge, I can't see them having much left in the budget for non-core systems development. There is a very significiant churn rate in the low end hosting market as people will often change hosts to save a few pence on their next renewal, so I reall can't see them changing their systems for something only a handful of people would use.

If you need ultimate control over the finer points of your domains (or hosting for that matter), then a bargain bucket reseller is not the way to go.

All they have to do is not delete domains and only at expiry, it aint rocket science. They're sitting there catching them after, you watch.

Agreed, it's not difficult, but obviously not in their interest to modify the system for a few people who don't fit their average customer profile.

Nominet joining fee is only a handful of half decent domain sales and a few simple name sales per year for the membership and then you can run your portfolio exactly how you want to rather than relying on a 3rd party :)

I aint paying 10% of domain sales on nominet membership, not unless I have a plan to use it properly. Heart have a good control panel for domains, I see no reason why they would want to get rid of domains from owners during suspension unless there's an underhand motive, it just doesnt make sense.

I think it's a bit of incompetence rather than conspiracy. Someone had one of my domains in his control panel, I picked it up on a drop and moved it to hearts tag. It went into there account and heart wouldn't do anything. They said if I forwarded XY and Z they would change the tag to a different hosting company, why should I, I pay £40 a month. They know full well I'm the owner as the reg details are the same as my other 700.

But will they do anything, will the hell. It seems they have a rigid system and unwilling to ever budge.

Might move soon enough,
