Hi

I would like to have a heart internet hostpay reseller package branded as my own hosting company.

Are there any experts out there that can do this, looks like most of the documentation is there, just need someone with a design eye and fastidious enough to make it clean, fresh and with no errors.

I'm even happy with one of the ready made templates available, just need it sprucing up, if you know heart you will know what I'm after for sure.

Please pm or email

Thanks

Check what hearts T&C are, you maybe in for a world of pain with things they don't allow. For example last time I checked you wasn't allowed to host ANY mp3 files, there was restrictions on hot linking too.

I worked on a bands website, and ended up dumping their heart account because using hosted graphics (for the bands myspace) was a violation as was hosting the bands music.

Worth looking exactly what your clients can't do.

Ah yes. Your spot on. I'm ok with those restrictions but a customer may not be.

So i wonder. Is there such a thing as a hosting reseller in whitelabel form which all you need to do is promote/market and they do the rest?

Thanks skinner.

I do recall a few hosts that will provide end user support, this was a year or so ago, so you'll need to check. However... This creates a potential conflict of interest as your contract is with the customer and your provider may do things differently to how you would want them done. If you really want to distance yourself from the support, I'd suggest either buying in support / server management on a per ticket basis or finding a hosting affiliate scheme.

If you have "decent" customers and the platform you host them on is not oversold then the support required is negligible. Most of my hosted customers have never raised a support ticket as I keep the systems running OK.

Obviously a good host is not as cheap as you'll see the average "big name" host you'll see advertising. As in many markets you get what you pay for :)

It looks like if I'm not prepared to do it properly( or financially unable lol) it's best left to those who do it well.

I guess if I'm looking for a project I should choose an area where people dont do it well?

Ah maybe politics lol

Thanks for the replies. They are really appreciated.

Where does it say that?

Just my tuppence-worth:

I have just had a chat with Heart (as I am looking at their reseller hosting package), and they said I could upload mp3's/videos/pdf's etc.

My needs also required a check on copyright issues - if I set up a local band's website for a friend, would Heart come to me and say something like "have you got permission to upload their music" (I have).
Anyway, they said if I hosted/uploaded mp3's and they then thought that there may be an issue with copyright, then they would then look into it.
They also said that uploaded file size is limited to 150Mb and the download limit is 25Gb per month per account, so if I had a reseller account, each of my new customers would have the 25Gb download limit.

Not sure if this helps in any way.
Best wishes though.

That does help thanks. But i think something else has come from this post and I think we will head down a different route.

Yet again I've had some great expert advice in my post. So thank you.

If I understand it correctly Caroline, you can just get your own server and stick something like plesk, whmcs or alike. Servers aren't that expensive these days unless you are going at something hammer and tongs.

I have everything up and going for £50 a month, that's plesk and the server costs. I only host my own sites but can resell others without much additional problems.

If you want to resell services then you have better options than the one heart offers in my opinion.

Benefits are you have full control over what people are given and for not a lot extra per month.
