gym-membership.co.uk is a 4 year old site, originally set up to take advantage of pruhealth 6 month free gym membership offer, and was at its peak earning 3k per month....
since that offer died a death, i've been utilising whatever affiliate offers have been available from various gym chains just to tick over a few hundred quid a month. My problem is i don't have much time to spend improving the site at the moment, and there's so much potential if you can spare the time to complete the directory i tried to add, and perhaps get in contact with gyms directly, as many of them only run affiliate campaigns at certain times of the year.
ranks very well for a large number of search terms (i'll just list some for google):
#1 for "gym membership"
#3 for "cheap gym membership"
#3 for "david lloyd gyms"
#6 for "david lloyd gym membership"
#6 for "virgin active gyms"
#4 for "virgin active gym membership"
#5 for "virgin active membership"
#4 for "la fitness gyms"
#5 for "la fitness gym membership"
there's plenty more where those came from too - cannons (now run by nuffield), Holmes place (now run by virgin) etc.etc.
from just sticking on there what's easily available affiliate-wise (take about half an hour each month), which has meant only one or two gym chains at any one time, my earnings to date in 2010 (1/1 to 21/7) have been approximately 3k. this is despite only have a 1 day pass at virgin active throughout the bumper month of january, as LA fitness affiliate scheme had all of their tracking ruined by a website redesign in late december, and I'd not found fitness firsts scheme, and then since april only having LA Fitness and Fitness First offers. Anyway, i digress, as you can see, 3k in just under 7 months is well below what it should be earning, it'll undoubtedly continue to earn that, but needs someone to put some time and effort into it, perhaps also with some contacts in the fitness industry to optimise earnings from the rankings and traffic.
traffic is around 900 unique visitors a day for january, and then on average about 3 or 4 hundred a day the rest of the time.
hope that's all the info needed for an accurate appraisal!
thanks,
Matty
