I had a Tomahawk, which was a cut down Chopper - no gears. The Grifter was massively heavy, a mate had one. I think the Chippy had a different seat (not high at the back) and the wheels were the same size. The Chopper and Tomahawk had odd sized wheels. Great for wheelies! Looks like a bunch of us are similar ages...

We had a binatone system as well. This was in the days before the the Atari VCS was available in the UK.

does anybody remember that game for an atari st or 800xl where you went underground and had to collect gold items something pitfall,when you died it used to send you right back to the start.....:mad:

Are you thinking of Manic Miner or Jet Set Willy?

Fine games, first played Manic Miner on my spectrum 48k with the rubber keyboard :) One of my all time favourites... and still available for free download for windows, or for the spectrum emulator.

no sound but can play Manic Miner here

Manic Miner in JavaScript

Chopper was the best bike I have ever had, squashed nuts and all :)

@boxerdog

is that one of the bikes that made the noises when you pressed the buttons ?

if so i think my mate still has one in his loft .. although i think his is black :)

I had one of the black ones with sirens on it. Used to wake up at 7am and ride around all the houses waking everyone up with it :D

The siren box broke after a year or so, I cried so much because my Dad just took the box off and chucked it away :(

When I was a teenager the most sophisticated electronic object in our village was the pinball machine in the pub. If you put money in it, the landlord turned a blind eye to your under-age status!

That was an educational experience. I was very bad at pinball (6d a game), and at 1s 10d a pint I had to find additional sources of income to pay for playing. So I learned to repair radios - and toasters - and all manner of other things ...
