First Ever .co.uk Auction!

It's not Sedo selling the domains, how can they guarantee completion? Surely it's down to the seller? Sedo aren't holding the domains in question?

Include a term in the contract stating that if the transfer hasn't occurred by a certain date, the transaction is cancelled and the buyer's money is refunded.

Or, include a term in the contract that states the direct.uk domain is included in the sale if the transaction is not completed in time.

There's generally no contract with a Sedo sale.

Yes, they can certainly include something to void the deal but cannot guarantee completion. What are the terms on Sedo with regards to transfer times generally? Does the binding agreement have a time limit? For example, if somebody bid on domain.co.uk and didn't pay, how long before the seller can put it back on the market? I can imagine there will be a lot of delayed payments with so many high end domains up for grabs. Whether they'll go over the June 10th deadline who knows. If they do Sedo better have something in place to either void the deal or guarantee transfer of both domains as with the current terms, the .co.uk seller could simply transfer the .co.uk and fulfil their legal obligations.

It'll be interesting to see how many of these are snapped up, split up and resold.

Will be interesting to follow and see how domains like cider get on. There is 1 or 2 domains im tempted to bid on myself.

So you have to pay within 5 days, or the buyer making a request, which might be the big issue with some of them. Unfortunately unless Sedo do the right thing and respond, I won't be bidding!

Either of my domains will definitely include the .uk

What a farce this auction is.

Still no response on whether sellers are going to be forced to complete in time to include the .uk domain.

Sedo, unless you sort this out I won't contemplate bidding on anything in it, and I'm sure loads of other savvy buyers realise the importance of the timescale here and are going to sit it out also...

Talking about a farce..

I was bidding in an auction of a travel company which went bankrupt, out of all their domains only one was good so I was prepared to pay a bit for it...

Turned out the auction company made a mistake and the domain was owned by someone else.

Sedo don't give a crap about things like this anymore than they care about non paying bidders or people who refuse to sell after accepting an offer, they become more irrelevant and out of touch every day imo.

Sadly that's true. There was a point when they started their London office with Nora and Hugo that it looked like they were going to do something to help the .uk market but sadly that's all history now.

All these years, no .co.uk auction event! Why not just wait for the .uk release?

Nice to see Sedo checking back to this thread often with the info potential bidders required :D

I sent them a PM on here asking to reply; we shall see if they do, though apologies in advance to the owners of two domains in the auction which I would have bid on if it wasn't for the lack of clarification from Sedo. Sadly these owners might end up with less money than they hoped for if bidders like me hold back.

+1 i wont bid on any domains unless i know i will get .uk. Tbh im surprised by the lack of input from Sedo on this forum, just a little bit of listening and a few replys here and there could result in more business for them.

Our domain names now have a comment showing on their auction pages stating that the new owner will be entitled to the .uk on the 10th June 2014.

Anyone looking to bid on them who wants more formal confirmation is welcome to contact me for that.

Looks like it's going about as well as all of Sedo's other auctions. Only 3 names have hit reserve with a day to go, including cider.co.uk (already mentioned on this thread) along with areacodes.co.uk and cinemadeals.co.uk.

Who knows, there might still be a mad rush in the last 24 hours, but I'm not going to hold my breath...
