Those same estate agents will probably swapping their minis for a little plastic badge with 3 stars on soon. What sort of muppet estate agent says that? most people I know use rightmove before anything when househunting.

Had an email back from another cash site tonight, £70,000 is their offer, subject to survey, no survey needed... they can shove the cash back up their rear.

hang fire mate we don't even know what rightmove charge per property, if they charge over the odds then what kind of muppet would stay with them is probably a more accurate question!

They don't charge per property just per office, it is expensive but they are way ahead of the competition. They are definitely the "google" of the property website world.

If your mortgage is only 13k, the rent should be make you some cash, am I reading this string wrong??

Hang it out Lee if you possibly can - tell these leeches there are lots of unsuspecting pensioners that their type are known to regularly have over and they can go find some old grannie to take advantage of...

I use the rent to pay the rent here, was easier when I moved, was getting £550 and was paying £340 rent on this two bed, two bathroom apartment, but since the xchange rate went back, I pay more for the apartment and also get less on the house. I cant wait until the euro crashes. it should have dived by now. But news out today says UK will be last to recover, I hate labour, i really ******** despise them. Give to the poor, make all equal, job done eh brown? Soon everyone will be broke and be equal to africa, the nation you gave billions of tax payers money to. British voters are useless, do everything five years too late.

If this was my situation, I would forget about the house, just let the rent pay the mortgage and forget I even own it.

I would pay the rent in Romania out of my salary or whatever I earnt from this hobby.

I have a couple of properties that I have rented out, the rent just about covers the mortgage payments but I still have to top up the payments with cash from my salary, cash I dont mind paying at all.

It's not nice to rent though, it's dead money. I could live in an apartment here and it would be mine, my furniture etc. been doing this two years now, renting isnt nice. If it was five years ago, I'd have taken money out of the house and bought another place, havent tried due to current climate.

you could always look on the bbc iplayer, working lunch,i think he was the head of the governing body of estate agents or some trade body or something like that be he wouldn't really be a muppet on the bbc though would he?,and yes most people do look on rightmove when househunting that doesn't mean that all estate agents advertise with them does it?

Normally yes, but you have matey in the UK paying your mortgage and you are renting in Romania, so in reality you are paying your own mortgage off in the UK whilst living abroad.

If you didnt have a mortgage and were just renting somewhere, then yes, you could class it as dead money.

Mortgage is only £100 a month, I want to live in my own place, woman interested today so says agent so they've sent details, give that a week see how it goes, not even on websites yet. I'd sell it tomorrow, spoke to legal line on barclays premier today and they said nothing much i can do legally to get in my name and leverage so best off selling, move on.

So about this CGT, I rent an apartment in Bucharest, and let out my house, what's my main home, where I live or the house? Do I have to go back and live in it for a day and save myself 18% tax?

When you no longer live in the property
Even if you no longer live in your property, you can still qualify for the full amount of private residence relief, provided that:

the property has been your main home from the time that you bought it
it has otherwise fully qualified for private residence relief (for example, you have not used part of the property exclusively for business purposes)
you sell it within three years of moving out or it no longer being your main home
