Hi Jalpope,

I have just concluded 21 days of research into domain dropping patterns. I have worked with multiple tags (don’t ask who or which) and have found there is a way of identifying favorable times to send out DAC + REQUESTS

Any chance you could send your data to Jay so that they can get the problem ironed out?

Thanks,

P.

be interesting if nominet reply to this thread and explain if there system has been flawed again, just to put us members minds at rest as we havent seen them on here for ages now.........

catch 22 - last time nominet replied to 303 issue they said they had investigated and found nowt and then only after futher pestering came back later and said whoops there is a bug.

If they post saying 'no problem' it leaves them open to further reputation batterings if things are otherwise proven, however if they leave as it is it does not show confidence in their system to catagorically say 'no problem' :)

Incidently - someone has forked out a few quid and gone to the trouble of setting up the infamous "Mr and Mrs" tags which probably use the DAC with no results so could the data gained be of value?

Multiple tags can't help unless you can have multiples all called ******?

how would a WLS work?

how would a WLS work?

If it's anything like .com, most likely "those who have the most cash win" i.e. a straight auction format where the winner is guaranteed to get that particular domain name.

But I can't say for sure that the .co.uk approach would be the same in practice...

ah so instead of tag /holders members running there own business on catching names and selling them and/or developing them and making money (like any normal business would), nominet as a non profit company want to make some more money aswell :)

I think the 'highest bidder wins' scenario would be too close for comfort as far as Nominet is concerned. To recognise that domains have a real financial value would change their business model, taking domain names into the 'contractual' arena on a much firmer footing than things are already.
They would probably introduce a third party structure to distance themselves from the 'value' element, of re-jig the current TAG holder agreement to accomplish the same objective!
