Hi Guys,

essentialoils.co.uk

Can anyone put an estimate on this domain for me, it's my girlfriends parents domain. I don't know a lot about the industry, apparently it's a valuable phrase.

"essential oils" gets 301,000 searches a month, 40,500 in the UK alone.

EDIT

6,600 exacts locally.

Those are the 'broad' search figures, you need to set the keyword tool to 'exact' for .UK domains, still fairly respectable figures though with 6,600 exacts rather than the 40,500 quoted.

Nice name, I reckon it's worth low £x,xxx as a reseller domain on here, but if you can find an end user operating in this specific area, who knows how much they would be willing to pay, I would certainly want £xx,xxx for it.

Thanks for the advice, they were told it could be worth about £15,000 with a proper site on it. I wasn't so sure, I could make a site for it I guess.

Start by looking for similar sales at domainprices.co.uk.

Hey, thanks - there doesn't seem to be anything similar on there. Any idea if I should be looking at search stats for the domain prices rather than the actual subject of the domain?

FishOils.co.uk sold for £266 on DomainLore (so, more likely to be a reseller price). Basing it solely on exacts work out at around £3500 for EssentialOils.co.uk.

Domain prices aren't that scientific though, so will of course depend on what someone is willing to pay for it. With regards to pricing, search statistics for different niches will equal different valuations as some sectors are far more lucrative to monetise than others.

Thanks for the advice, I'll do some more resarch on it for them.

Looking at PPC spend on the term will also give you an indication of value.

Cant see much value nothing near 15k more like £500 1k max if your lucky

I'm with Shaun, maybe 2k to 3k but it would have to be a specific end user, I'm sure I have seen a few different ads saying essential oils.

Good luck 8)

Great domain, great potential. £1k offer from me to get you started if they're thinking about selling it.

Actually, make it £1,001 just to prove Sean wrong :D
