Hi,
have bought a domain on sedo. i like it, got it for a good price. the transaction has not gone through yet. 3 weeks down the line the seller is messing around. (normally other way round). I like to pay for things or sell things straight away , do paperwork etc & get on. Have chased sedo all the way to hurry him along. Apparently he's saying he owes registrar some fees & will be sorted. It can't be a lot & how do you owe them? He's changed his mind. Sedo have already said they will ask one last time & then cancel. I've paid & entered a legal contract or so they say. surely they have to be stronger with buyers & sellers. i know the bloke's the pain in the arse not sedo, but what is the real legal position. can't sedo send a legal letter or something to 'hurry' people along or it makes a mockery of it. doesn't it? anyone had similar problems? appreciate input as don't want to miss out on this name, spent enough time on it already. thanks. Predator

nb: add to that i have 500 domains parked with sedo & have bought 8 domains through sedo this year, i am a good customer. if sedo reading would appreciate a pm. thanks

Contract in place... offer made , accepted and agreement etc.

Enforcing it is the fun bit :)

Let it play out...

Maybe genuine from the bloke...

When your close, easy to mis-read into stuff...

Sedo will supply you details if seller defaults and you wish to persue further...

how?

Hi Rob / wwwdomain,
i made it clear to the sedo rep. i had entered a contract & so had he & it just wastes everyones time if not adhered to so hopefully he will carry on trying. it seems silly as we negotiated for a week or so with maybe 6-8 bids going back & forth & either of us could have backed out at any time. i've always been quite impatient but always honour deals. deals are fun. when i buy through sedo or anyone i pay that minute & hurry along sedo & godaddy or whoever to get things going.
question is, what do i do next? it might be the blokes just stupid or lazy & not trying to get out the deal. sedo started off by saying the registrar was unhelpful.(they're German ;) ) then it was the seller. then invoices had to be paid to the registrar etc. not sure what the truth is. not sure of my next step though. advice appreciated if you have experience of this, which no doubt you have. cheers, Predator

follow up

Hi,
would appreciate if sedo could clarify procedure on this in the morning if anyone checks this section from sedo then. would be grateful instead of going through rep. i am sure he will get back. usually few days though.;)
thanks in advance. Predator

I've had them in the past, sedo won't do anything about 'enforcing' the contract. It'll be left to you if you really want all the hassle of chasing a breach of contract.

I suggested a long time ago that any bidder (if really serious) should make their bid with a non refundable deposit in the case of a back-out, and refundable if seller doesnt accept offer, but the usual answer of 'we dont want to scare off potential bidders' always gets trotted out.

I'd let it play out for now, but don't get your hopes up that Sedo will turn the screws for you.

Dave

Hi Dave,
that's actually a really good idea you got there. one they should employ. i've bought quite a lot off sedo in past, hope they sort it out. otherwise you may as well email buyers through whois & escrow things.
cheers

Hi Pred

I am in the same situation. I have paid sedo for 2 domains I am buying from different registrants. Sedo have had my money for over 2 weeks and I am yet to see a tx form. Sedo say a uk seller should fax the forms to Germany and then sedo will send them to me in the UK. What is the logic of that?

One of the sellers is even a big registrant of UK domains! Sedo are spineless, this "legally binding contract " is worthless. They take the 10% and do bugger all.

You could perhaps try encouraging the issue.

Fill in your part of the transfer form using e.g. http://www.j2g.co.uk
and emailing it to sedo and asking them to forward it to the other party?

yesterday

--------------------
first input your details.
second press the button at the end of the form to get your details burned into the pdf
third save the pdf to disk using the little save to disk item in acrobat reader (and not the file->save link of your browser)
at all times ignoring the adobes unnecessary warnings.
fourth email to sedo

Hi Bluerock,
it's about a month for me. they're not .co.uk's i'm buying. i find if it's lower end ones better off approaching buyer direct as sedo's fees are high. it is 2 tld's i'm buying from 2 different buyers. one is a massive organization too. ultimately the sellers are the pain but communication from the sedo reps has not been as good as past experiences. often taking days to reply to emails. they're still trying the nicey nicey approach which i guess they have to as they need to keep both sides happy. i need to see what happens if there is no progress later next week say. i'll keep this thread posted. it is very irritating & time consuming.
cheers, Predator

Bluerock..thanks for posting that...i've put it on file....z

Looks like some are confused....

I've sold a number .co.uk's via sedo and always sent NTF to the buyer once sedo have sent me notification of buyer payment and buyer details.

I've NEVER sent a form etc to germany ever!

Always worked, NEVER any issues.

Completed transfers in days.

The following is taken from an email Sedo has sent to the seller:

"Once you have received and completed your section of the change of ownership form, and have written the confirmation letter, please send both, and the remittance advice to Sedo at +49 221 340 30 109. We will then forward these to the buyer."

There is no confusion here. This seller knows no better and is obviously doing what he thinks is right and following Sedos advice. I was told Sedo have had a policy change since Nom provided a download link for the tx forms.

Sedo have said they want to check the tx forms before forwarding them to the buyer and keep a copy. If Brad (at Sedo) is reading this can he please explain why Sedo want the forms forwarded to Germany.
I have spoken to another seller who has no fax and he has an email from Sedo saying Sedo want him to post the forms to Germany and Sedo will re post these to the buyer in the UK!

I agree it's ludicrous to send or email the Nominet transfer form to Germany so they can take a look at it and then send it back to the UK. The old system worked well (provided the buyer co-operated), but I can't help thinking Sedo are now trying to justify their fee (a lot of people on here used to complain about their lack of involvement) but now it's definitely taking much, much longer. This week we put a first class stamp on an envelope (oops!!) and sent it to a buyer in South Croydon, with a good old fashioned paper copy of the Nominet form and our confirmation letter to Nominet on headed paper. Now I'm sure he got that form the very next day and hopefully we'll see a transfer next week instead of these silly delays.
