Caught employmentlaw.org.uk yesterday with a view to develop it. Got a call this morning from someone offering £500. I reckon it is worth far more than that.

Any views?

It's a good name .... I think it would be worth more to a law firm ... I guess it is just finding the right end user

I wouldn't say it's a bad offer, although should be able to get more.

As with everything it's a case of finding the right buyer (as brum says).

Some similar sales, albeit .co.uk and not that recent, from DomainPrices.co.uk:

EmploymentLaw.co.uk - £1,616 - Sedo - December 2006
EmploymentLawAdvice.co.uk - £500 - Sedo - December 2007
EmploymentLawyer.co.uk - £1,000 - Sedo - November 2009
EmploymentLawyers.co.uk - £2,000 - Sedo - November 2009
EmploymentSolicitors.co.uk - £1,500 - Sedo Marketplace - December 2008
EmploymentSolicitors.co.uk - £1,500 - Sedo Marketplace - December 2008

Could be worth more BUT...

nightmare market.

You need to be regulated by the MOJ to market the site for the purpose of generating claims/leads...

Lawyers dont like buying employment case leads cos they are a pain in arse to value quickly and are rarely slam dunk cases.

If anyone has a lawyer who does want to buy volume of employment cases please let me know :)

Lawyers still dont understand the interweb so dont see why they should buy an exact match domain when smithbarneswhateverwalliceandgrommit.co.uk has served them well since 1996....

Most solicitors with the the odd exception of ambulance chasers etc want high value clients not volume… They don’t tend to go out of there area more localized representing someone in Newcastle when your in Bournemouth in most employment cases wouldn’t pay…

As has also been said there not that interested in the net and org.uk would be even harder … There may be a few that just specialize in this field but they tend to let there name be there advertising or work on referrals… one day a month working in the C.A.B etc gets most more than enough clients…?

If you have contacts in the field I’d try them or think you can sell leads do that... otherwise cold calling etc existing firms think would not be that fruitful…

Possible changes in legal aid will end for most family cases, clinical negligence and employment law in England and Wales, but remain for criminal cases.

Currently anyone with disposable assets of less than £8,000 can qualify for aid but that could be lowered to £1,000. Won’t be making most think about the net …

Don't think the offers that bad ? Otherwise finding that elusive "rightbuyer" can be a long wait

Sounds like too much hassle to develop the name from replies from experienced members above.. I'd just take the offer myself!

Beauty is in

The eye of the beholder , motto is if you think its worth more,
then have the balls to develop it , that involves investing time and money
so your catch cost you ? and you have been offered £500 ,that not a bad wage for the day , if you get to attached to your domains , then you will never
sell any the cpc is not so hot which shows that like the others have said
the keyword represents a lot of Tyre kickers , people wanting free info
otherwise it would be at the £30-60 mark like personal injury claims

sorry to tell you like it is but there you go

on the bright side if someone bids you £500 they will normally go up £750 from a opening bid ,

i have found trying to get end users interested in domains is very difficult
websites there kind of tangible , and on page 1 or 2 a lot easier to sell
and you can ask for lots more money

Dying market? Employment law changes evertime a new judge makes a new decision. HR is one of the most changeable areas anywhere.

Cipd members spend fortunes every year just keeping up to date.

But as for a domain. Yeah take money and run lol

@binny I hope you are being ironic.

.....in terms of use for selling leads? No, I wasn't being ironic. The two year rule, suggested removal of protection for non-productive workers and a probable restriction on selling of leads are going to impact massively on the number of cases.

.....in terms of selling employment law services? Again no. People searching want free advice. Employment law information services are expensive so only fairly large companies buy them and the major players are some of the most determined cold callers in industry, they pretty much know when every company's current contract runs out and bombard them at that time.

£500 for the .org.uk, which could be hard to monetise whilst holding, is a good offer.
