Hi All,

Wasn't quite sure where to put this as I'm not really looking for an appraisal, as we've been building the business since last year and we're in the completion stages for the e-commerce system that will drive the site. I've been sourcing in China for a portfolio of products that fit the bill since and have a lot of Chinese maufacturers offering innovative ideas/products. However as I continue to build the brand I thought I'd ask everyone here; ecoMates™ products can be anything, as long as theyre green as our name suggests, they save money, cut down on energy use. So here's where you come in, the products can be domestic or commercial product(s) but what I was going to ask everyone is:

What do you think an ecoMates™ product is???

The product(s) have to be innovative, have instant market appeal, be affordable and of course green :D

ecoMates™ will be sold here in the UK through ecomate.co.uk and in Europe through ecomates.eu. I know there are some great marketers in here and I look forward to getting some good suggestions, in fact ANY suggestions from weird to wonderful, to right out there!!

PS: Would be prepared to JV this too if anyone is trying to bring in good product(s) into the UK/Europe??

Perhaps an environmentally friendly battery recharger.

Rgds

Yep a good idea and I've already sourced an emergency one that recharges mobile phones from a aa battery, it could be a garden implement, it could be a ??, it could be sooo many things. Trying to pick the brains of the marketing gurus - its got to have wide appeal.

Maybe there's a portfolio under the ecoMate™ brand, who knows but one really good idea would be a great start

Good start - Thanks...

I think it's the basis for a great brand - nice to see you have the enthusiasm to start doing something with it. Now might be the time to try and buy the .com as it's going nowhere. There is always a problem to watch if you're posting about a ccTLD brand - keep your posts more vanilla so that the .com owner won't find you on Google.

It looks good, nice to see what people do with my names.

Right back atcha Lee :D

Worked on developing Chinese suppliers for a year or so now for our eco portfolio, all the best.

Jim.

Anyway people (any further ideas) on what you think would be great ecoMates™ products???

Got products and suppliers but always need new ideas. Dont matter how wacky just your thoughts on if this green product was available - I'd buy it!!!

As Graeme suggests, you now have to put some resources into this.

Looks like someone trying to hijack your TM mate

Intellectual Property Office - Results

You want to get onto that and object before it's granted, harder to get them reversed than to stop them.

Yep I knew about this one but thought the classes werent an issue for chemicals, anyway was going to talk to the trademark office tomorrow after the holiday.

But thanks for the heads-up greywing...

No probs mate, I always keep on eye out for someone trying to pull one on my ecomark.co.uk

Thing is that although they might not be able to claim the name from you, because you were trading first etc.

They can stop people placing ads on your site through google etc for the keywords and that will hit your google click throughs etc.

HPI do it to me all the time, they are always trying it on.

Thanks Graeme, you know on reflection (although I thought I was well covered) your not to far off the mark. One of the (eco) areas I've got products available "and in future development for" is beauty, health, antiaging products, soaps and moisturisers etc.

I've spoken to the UK IPO office today and they say (prior use) if you have this brand and you can show online marketing and brand awareness before anyone else we would have to consider our first-past-the-post situation. The reality is; even without an application, if you have advertised a brand that at a later date has been applied for by a company body or individual then that application should be investigated.
