i found the camera abysmal, in anything other than excellent conditions it would produce lousy results, low light...forget it. Most pictures were very soft and poorly exposed...in any high contrast situations it just couldnt produce. The difference appears to be night and day but i need to test the new camera more. The longest step was just getting bootloader unlocked.

I've now gone through the unlocking and rooting process, and have installed MGC 5.1.018 Google Camera apk (i believe there are a few options.. which did you install?) It works great. The one negative is that my banking app isn't working due to it detecting that the phone has been rooted. Apparently there was a way to avoid that, but for the effort involved I don't want to go through this whole process again.

I've tried a few, not sure which the best/ most reliable is. I guess they will keep improving, sorry to hear about your banking app

Yeah the banking app is no big deal really. I just glad I didn't brick my phone!
