Must be a New Year prenom clearout, depressing sitting here watching others catch them :(

lol post a winge my arse off post and then I finally catch one. :p

A certain someone added a few £100k to their personal wealth today. Nice work.

just seems strange that so many drop and still the same few get them all... there my New Year Rant over with.

Nominet should get probability and stat A courses after today's drop results. That certain someone got anything he thought valuable.

If you think these names did not drop at the same time and say it dropped half an hour interval it can take 6 hours. If you want to catch a name you should send with maximum speed which makes 6*60*500 = 180 K requests to DAC with safe side calculation. So that certain someone actually without firing a request empty with his request bucket.

Good one!

Good one!

On days like this (which are not unusual) it must be a little embarassing for said catcher to show how superior he is against the feeble competition. We know not if it is achieved by hook or by crook, and even if it was the latter I think it would be a rather hot potato for Nominet to deal with.

as nominet say, people have good systems :) :)

note how "whois" is down now for more than an hour..

some of the dropped domains are listed as free for so long
but some show registered few seconds after they dropped

strange whois behavior, isn't it?

Thanks for the reply, Aquanuke.

What a strange business. Can't Nominet change its rules and auction off these domains to the highest bidder? (Like the DVLC does with its 'cherished numbers') Mind you, I have no idea what Nominet would then do with the proceeds - reduce reg fees, perhaps?

I can sense a 'no way' reply or two.....

Gawd ! I hope not. No that would be el crappo. Catching is fun and its all about having the best script, server, timing and alot of luck. I may not get much but Im getting better ! Ive got my script down to completing a request from detection to send in less then 125ms.. just need to figure out why I keep getting beaten :D

No offence but if it went like that it would be the rich Americans and Arabs buying up all our real estate.

Because it then hits the brick wall that is Automation and joins the end of the queue that stretches around the block.
