dropcatcher

Hello CM1975,
I have sent him a pm
Thanks for that
John

Anyone know if they are still going? Today there are domains in my watchlist that are available to register at this moment. Waiting to see how long before (or if) they pick them up.

Thats's terrible...

The whole point is that you're getting them as soon as they're available.

Well I made a mistake on one and got the dropdate wrong. However the other one I picked because I wanted to test - I picked a domain I thought it would be unlikely anyone else would be chasing it but I wouldn't mind too much if they got it. However I watched it drop (didn't chase it myself for obvious reasons) - it was picked up 12 hours later by a hand reg by someone else. It seems from this that dropcatcher are no longer chasing. Don't want to post the domain here out of respect for the guy who regged it later. It's a shame when I have 29 unused credits and can't even use them to reg available domains :p

I take it you haven't bought any credits and haven't wasted loads time booking slots on a non-functional system then?

I've only got one and that gets my back up big time, but for people like Edwin and RobM who have more than 10 - jeez..

Ouch, that's nearly £3.5k's worth! When and why did you buy so many?

I've had them years when I was buying a lot more domains than I have been lately and if I remember correctly they we heavily discounted £20 rings a bell, I did not pay anywhere near £34.

But even so £1900 is enough, but to be honest I have spoken to Chris on a number of occasions and he comes across as a decent bloke so I'm hope there is a reason for the problems, least I hope so.

I doubt Edwin's crying about his. :)

I'm not crying about mine either - I think you know my history with .co.uk ;) Was just wondering what's going on and posting the results of my observation.

However, as you suggested, it wouldn't be a bad idea if Chris allowed us to use them to reg available domains.

I doubt Edwin's crying about his. :)

Correct. The value we received over the time that the system was working well far outweighs the hassle of a few leftover credits. That said, if they DO start catching again in a reasonably effective way in future, I will happily sell our last few credits (since we're neither monitoring nor participating in the drops any more).
