DropCatcher

DropCatcher has been continuously operating since 2002 and in that time has caught over 100,000 domains for a very satisfied client base, more than every other public facing .co.uk service put together.

There will always be the knockers, including the guy who went absolutely berserk when DropCatcher failed to secure radio.co.uk for £29 that Denys had dedicated an entire server to catching. This guy really expected us to catch a £100K name for just £29.

DropCatcher has caught tens of millions of pounds of domains for thousands of clients, including numerous ones on this board. Yes, you can't please all of the people all of the time but we continue catching domains name every single day.

The thing about complaints is that it's generally only ones that are disappointed that post, you don't usually get people posting when they have secured the domain that they booked.

Anyone with any concerns or questions is more than welcome to PM or email me.

Our number is 0161 408 4321 and our email address is Sales ampersand DropCatcher.co.uk

Thanks for clearing that up. You might want to change the contact email on on your website as mine bounced back to me. I will cancel my Paypal dispute right away.

Thanks for that Marcus, much appreciated. I've just realised that an old version of the contact page on the actual booking site (dropcatcher.co.uk) has reverted to a very old version indeed, I will have that fixed soonest.

Most people come through our main www.detagged.co.uk site and all that information is current.

Best regards,

Chris

Just received an email from dropcatcher today. Seems they *are* still in business - just took several months to respond to anyone.

I found your service didn't work for a large percentage of names which weren't even that competitive and I ended up stuck with credits which won't realistically be used because of your catching ratio. I'm being honest here - you service looks like it's 10 years old and may have worked with fewer clients/5-10 years ago - however didn't work for me over the last 2 ish years and judging by other recent people didn't work for them.

I'd be interested to see what calibre of names you've been catching for clients lately - allegedly there was an incident in the other thread where a FTR wasn't caught using your service so the resources must be very limited for a catcher using your paid in advance no-refunds credit system. If you clear this up perhaps people would have more confidence in your service which (on the surface) seems to be running either slow or not at all based on my personal experience.

I'm more than happy to pay people for their services/products but when it doesn't seem to work I'm obviously not that pleased - unfortunately your service is the one I'm most disappointed with :(

Just a heads up that they are still catching. They got me a nice keyword .org.uk recently, which I had booked at most other catchers.

Communication is always fast, no problems here.

That's fair enough cheers Mat - I didn't have much luck must just be one of those things! Not a witch hunt, just based on previous threads/success I was getting frustrated using them and wondered if they were still working (as haven't really for me)

Just signed up to www.dropcatcher.co.uk, bought 5 slots and THEN noticed this thread. I tried emailing them but its bounced. Should I be filling out a Paypal dispute?!

You should take on board that they try to get domains for themselves individually by direct approach, even if you have booked through them, see this thread:

http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/drop-...98681-know-good-catcher-ood-drop-catcher.html

That unfortunately looks like the nature of the business, and sadly an acceptable one here at Acorn, judging from the replies I got.

I was also giving up hope :D on my credits there and sometimes stopped booking there due to not seeing them catch a lot.

But then they caught a co / uk domain for me the end of last year, which i had booked at 5 other public catchers electrician in manchester .

DropCatcher

Over the past ten years we've had to constantly evolve as Nominet have moved the goalposts numerous times and greatly increased opposition has arrived. I agree that our website looks terrible (but not for much longer!), but to judge a back end service on what an albeit ugly front end looks like would be seriously underestimating it. A new release of the catching engine was released just a few weeks ago and we're catching some superb domains as numerous recent congratulatory emails attest to.

I can confirm that Ronnie recently sold his 50% share in DropCatcher to two extremely savvy guys and we're currently working on a total revamp for DropCatcher including an all singing, all dancing website and even more competitive back end. We're also going to be adding additonal features including a zero commission auction platform and other useful addons.

I contacted one of the negative posters in the previous thread after reviewing his DropCatcher account to see why we hadn't caught anything for him lately. I knew him to be a very decent guy and a very intelligent player whom we had caught many tens of thousands of pounds of domains for previously. The reason why we hadn't caught anything for him was that he hadn't actually booked anything on DropCatcher for the past year because he was put off by the negative comments posted by the knockers, several of whom have never been DropCatcher customers and one of whom runs a competing service!

As a well known gambling platform proclaims, "You've got to be in it to win it!"

Let's face it, there will always be people with axes to grind and you can't please all of the people all of the time.

If we operated a pay after catch model, everyone would book every name going on every service and DropCatcher would be forced to try and go after hundreds of domains every day. That's just a waste of everyone's time. With the anti-avoidance provisions that we adhere to (and which several other catchers clearly don't) our success ratio would be horribly diluted. At the moment we're catching well over 75% of domains booked.

No public facing service, including DropCatcher, is any longer going to be able to catch you three character domains or banking.co.uk or loans.co.uk or radio.co.uk but if you have realistic targets , then DropCatcher will do very well for you indeed.

I repeat, we've caught over 100,000 domains over the past 10 years with never a price increase and have made substantial amounts of money for thousands of extremely satisfied customers.

Customers who demand a sure thing without having to pay a single penny up front are more than welcome to use those services that allow that. Remember, we have caught more domains for our customers than every other public facing service put together, by a considerable margin.

Emails to my personal email address are always answered the same day and customers are also welcome to Skype me with any questions.

For the record there is no personal grievance on my part with Chris/Dropcatcher.co.uk. I read his post and thought it needed to be honed to specifics, such as details of recent catches. That's what matters to customers and little else. :)

Ronnie sold his 50% share in DropCatcher for a substantial five figure sum to Mark Garbers and Mark Tristan. Mark Tristan will be handling all future DropCatcher publicity and forum posts and so hopefully some of the negativity will be removed as you don't have such a negative history with him.

Hi, bit of a general question but just wondering if you (or anyone else) can explain why the above is true as I'm not sure I fully understand.

A while ago I asked a question on here about how many catchers are likely to go after any given name (assuming it's a premium or sought after one). Someone replied and said it would probably be in the region of 100

If this true as a ball park figure then surely even with a premium or LLL name a public catcher would still have a 1 in 100 chance of securing the name, same as any other catcher. Or is there something else I'm failing to understand?

Thanks

As I understand it a lot of tagholders are using the script from one person on the agreement that they immediately auction the domain on his site for half the selling price. Therefore your chance of catching it for yourself is considerably less as most people will be told what to chase and when to chase it and the domain will then go to one venue for sale. Assuming your script is as good as or better than the one being used by multiple tagholders you would have the same chance but you'll have more competition. Obviously on major names you would have that competition anyway. As this doesn't breach nominets TOS you can see the market is pretty much sown up and will most likely end in an auction. Some chasers catch for a fixed fee and give the domain directly to you but their chances of catching are now greatly diminished and I can't see that business model lasting much longer.

^ Depends on whether certain catchers have multiple bookings on any given day, therefore diluting their efforts on particular names.

That would apply if it was one tagholder chasing. It's now mostly a pool.
