The first thing that I thought of for this (since it's a .org.uk) is a charity for domestic abuse. Am I the only one that thinks this would be the best option for the domain?

Might be able to get low £xxx to the right end user in my opinion.

domestic cleaning, domestic appliances and domestic abuse came to mind but it seems this domain is missing that 2nd word in each case.

I think the problem with it being only one word is the connotations that immediately spring to mind, ie having a 'domestic' is usually seen as quite a trivial argument so to use it for domestic abuse you would ideally want the two words as has already been said

org.uk lends itself to the word domestic, and the domain has huge inherent value.
Domestic effects everybody, there is not one person that does not have a domestic situation.
Go away to lunch today and come back and see how many of the domain names you have come into contact with this morning that you can easily recall, this one would be a certainty.

This could, through the years, become a big household used website because it encompasses so much, we are all becoming more domestically aware, the home and home management is becoming a bigger part of life and so much needs to be taught about the domestic side of life which in turn leads to a better society.
I would put great thought into it and set off on a labour of love and see the things that can be incorporated into the site and the benefit it can offer to society firstly, the rest could easily follow.
