Wanted: Website Review Domain Reverse Auction Site

I've had a reverse auction site made that will allow me to auction off domains from my portfolio to the bidder with lowest unique bid.

It's more a game than an auction and at present I am in the final stages of testing, which until today, has been open only to people I know.

Please take a look - there is no need to spend money, as all players get 25 free bids on a name that I really am going to give away at the end - which is about 2pm today.

The name on auction is EnglandTicket.com

To play and test the system, please see
::David Carter::

Only bids of 1 penny and above are accepted and all bids should be placed in pennies. Therefore, if you think that £1.25 will be the lowest unique bid (a bid that is both the lowest and that nobody else has guessed), enter 125.

I doubt I will ever hold a real auction, but as I've paid for the development, I might as well show a few domainers.

Let me know what you think, but be careful with criticism , as I am sensitive :)

Why does it show the Close Date as 12 Jun 09 09:03:14? That's this morning??

Also, EnglandTicket.com is a reasonable name, why do you want to give it away?

I haven't really got time to enter this today, but if I did, I might be a bit sceptical because you have full terms and conditions on your site so I would wonder whether legally I was committing myself to a paid contract.

Best of luck with it though.

I put the name up because I wanted to motivate people to test it properly - and what better way than to offer up a good name?

If I'd put a crap name up, nobody would have bothered.

This way, I ensured that I got it tested and it certainly was!

The TOB have to be there in any competition, even if it's free, because there will always be somebody looking to take advantage - at 49, life experience teaches you that!

There was no financial obligation at all for the test and the terms don't imply otherwise. Basically, if it were a paid auction, people need to understand what's on offer and the basis of the ofice. Even AcornDomains has terms.

Now for the embarrassing part.

It shames me to say that the winner at the end was my son! I told him not to play, but he did, armed with his free credits.

I told him that the terms state that family members aren't allowed to play - but he read the bloody things and showed me I'd omitted that - see what I mean about people taking advantage?

Anyway, I suspended him and awarded the domain to the next lowest unique bid. The winner was Mike Healy and the name will be transferred once he's provided his full contact information (since I don't ask for it at registration stage).

Thanks for looking. I might hold another free one soon, just for the fun of it.
