domain lore

If a name, which would normally be rejected, gets caught by someone using domaincatch (i think thats the right one?) does it still go to auction on dl?

I'm not really sure how it all works, I'm sure I see plenty of names get caught by domaincatch catchers, but never see the domain on domainlore? I assume they agree a price to buy it from themselves and denys gets half.

I prefer the way denys only accepts decent domains, ie no org.uk which suits me fine, some of the names posted in this thread I can see why not to be listed, when I go to domainlore myself I only want to see decent domains.

Thanks

Nope mate, if they get rejected which many do, then the person who catches it can do what they want with it.

Denys has rejected a few that he would have profited from many times over, but if they aren't of good enough quality they don't get on the site even if it costs him money. That's what I like about the guy, he plays by his own rules. It doesn't matter who owns the names or who benefits, if they aren't good enough then they aren't good enough and don't get on.

I get the feeling that the money they go for is just one aspect of the decision when it comes to Denys judging quality, certainly not the only factor.

I sold one on there the other week got a great price for it, really suprised me. I also buy a few names of their which i thought I also got a great deal aswell, so buying and selling for me has been good, I must say..

I think so or they are sold to Denys. I have examples.

Since Denys agreed not to partake in the auctions (people like myself refused to bid against him, since in my eyes he was bidding at half price), he decided he would attempt to buy the names BEFORE the auction, and if the user sells then its never auctioned, otherwise the seller takes their chance on auction.

The exception he added was the Autobid which are names he's added for interest for the domaincatch I assume.

Its all well documented on the forum that he made that choice.

I notice that carfinance.org.uk is going to be a very impressive sale (£5,250 with 5 days ago go). Good news for the .org.uk market.

Nice to see :) But this is being sold on the G position of the domain name / website - just as it was a few months back when I sold it to the seller for £9k :) (cast your mind back to the thread mentioning the biggest .org.uk sale on record)

Yet again a reminder to spend some time developing some of your names instead of parking them.

Thanks for the additional info domainseller. I was unaware of that. Looks like it's exchanging hands pretty regularly :).

What term is it actually ranking well for? From here it looks like position 17 for 'car finance'. Hmmm. Maybe I'm missing something.

No problem - yeh it is ranking for car finance - big money term in lead generation - when there were buyers for the leads

At that price (nice sale!) it's surprising that the seller would risk the domain being suspended by having invalid Whois details.

The registrant is a non-trading individual who has opted to have their
address omitted from the WHOIS service.
